| I was wondering how are live sets are recorded? Is there a way or a small device where you can recorded live sets while you're at a party or club? |

most live sets are recorded by the artist, club or promoter using DAT or some other professional-grade medium plugged directly into the club's soundboard or the dj's mixer.
if you want to secretly record an event yourself, the best device is a minidisc (the medium of choice for most bootleggers) or a good flash-based recorder like an edirol r1 or r-09. |

Those sets are, 90+% of the time, recorded from a radio broadcast. |

When a set is recorded directly from the mixer/sound board, the crowd can be added by having the house mic turned on anywhere that's in a central area.
kotsy. |

i think its sad to go to a gig to record,
you should be enjoying yourself and dance
there are so many gigs being recorded nowadays from radio broadcasts
except of perhaps mayday 2006, which went out in ty 56kb quality |

Seems like it'd be just a bit difficult to get a "superb" quality recording from something bouncing around in the pocket or purse of someone who's dancing. |
