hey it's been awhile since I last posted a track on this place so tell me if I've improved at all. It's not totally finished yet. I still need to add in some more automations and eq properly, but I just want some input. I have 2 versions of this track and I MIGHT add some vocals from this male vocalist of mine.

Background: Started off as an epic trancer, but I think it has a nice progressive feel to really depict where the composer is coming from
Title: Still deciding what kind of name I'm going to give it.
Bitrate: 192kbps
Total work time: 3 1/2 weeks

1st version: http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.p...5584D7333D5EF60
2nd version: http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.p...4E7E87F314228E5
Final version: http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.p...CB606E4410C029B

Edit: There will be no more male vocals for this track. I feel it would totally ruin the feel of the track. As of yesterday I've decided to dedicate this song to my grandmother that died last month. I thought of the name because I feel it's an epic track that takes you on a long journey hence the progressive feel. I hope you all enjoy it.

2nd version:

intro sounds good although for mixing ability you would have to change it.

kick is too weak imo. i like to hear the kick thump in the track. not too keen on the arp around the 2 minute mark would introduce a nice lifting melody instead to break the track into the break.

i like the arped melody although i dont think you used the right sound for it. id have something more detuned. also i think your bass gets a bit swallowed in the mix, try adding a sub to make it float.

pads all sound nice im guessing thats atmosphere you used. i need to get that for them choir pads.

overall its an improvement definately. i dont think male vocals would work in this, doesnt sound like a male vocal track.

nice work though.

1st version: Not really the style of trance music I like.A little bit to mutch sounds/instruments.

2nd version: Really better one.I like this big bassy effect you had on it. Perhaps the kik is not compress as it should but nice work on this version.I like the little arpeg sound behind the track.

Hey Lindo :)

Listening to the 2nd version

As above posters said, you could fatten up the kick, and also the bass, sounds abit thin right now..

Nice sounds and effects, earcandy, makes it more atmospheric and i like that :)

After 3 mins its getting really good, i love that fluty thing going on.
The break is wonderful, maybe you could wait to introduce the melody @4:14, i want it to calm down and enjoy the pad :p
Continues good, main melody is fading in... Maybe make it better sounding, it sounds very standard and thin right now... Try making some new intresting sound :)

Yep, that's all.. I really like this track and it could be really big :)

Keep it up!

it all goes very swimmingly until the break where the main melody comes in.... please do something about that break melody synth, add some reverb/delay/chorus whatever it takes to make it sound less played by a casio keyboard from the 80's thats if you think it will show the true art that you wanted to encapsulate in this piece.

some good atmospheres/melodies, but that sound and the lack of new and interesting soundscapes makes it less outstanding and definable amongst the masses of trance tunes out there.

Hey man,

I liked the second version a lot more! It is a GREAT TRACK!! But still I think that it is a bit to weak. Maybe you should raise the kick volume a little or just made it step out more..

other than that..a very quality trance!

Thanks for the post guys, I really appreciate the feedback.

dj_kane: I know the kick is too weak. I'll really work on that once I do final mixdown and set all the instrument levels and eq to perfection. The pads I used were samples and soundscapes made with Absynth 3. Damn such a great program.

xcalator: Thanks a lot. Your information on the second version I'm really glad to hear about. I'm hearing mixed results from people. Mainly just regular trance listeners.

Speactra: Thanks for the listen buddy. Like I said about the kick I'll work on that. The bass I'm going to add some chorus to so it'll sound thicker. I still need to work on that lead sound a little bit I think and make it stand out amongst other tracks. Thanks for the quality input. Can't wait to hear some more of your tracks too :)

iloop: Great to hear from you man. Haven't seen you in a little while. I'll work on that break melody synth for sure so that it sounds a little more professional. The soundscapes I'm actually going to work on a little more and really just come up with a totally inspiring pad sound to really just catch the listeners.

Mark Elgan: Thanks for the input. Nice to hear from a new poster. Like said before, I'll work on that kick and post the final version once it's done.

Thanks for all the comments and feedback I really appreciate it.

Hey m8,

At the beginning to around 3:00, kick percs and bassline could use a little fattening up sounds rather thin and high.

At 3:00 and beyond its starting to sound really banging, trance usually isnt my thing so i cant really be the perfect judge but i like what im hearing.

At around 6:20 the melody sounds awesome and really energetic, this track shows a lot of energy.

I suggest you fatten the track up where it sounds thin, nice work so far and keep it up m8

:)

hi mate,

overall, i agree with the suggestions posted above, your track has potential, maybe you should take some more attention to the levels and improving the overall sound quality.

keep it up!
Lindo
Thanks for the suggestions Peter and jupiter.

Once I actually get to the final mixdown stage, I'll make sure I work really hard on the levels and overall sound quality. Thanks for the feedback.

I've updated the link and the track is what I believe finally finished.

Check it out if you'd like.
