World War III : possibility or propoganda?

With present and escalating conflict between the United States, Iran, Iraq, North Korea, China, Israel, and Lebanon, as well as the War on Terror still underway, many US conservatives have suggested that World War III is a very real possibility on the horizon. Some liberals have put forth that the use of the term 'World War III' is simply a means of distracting the public from the fact that the US has failed the War on Terror.
What do you all think? Is a world war looming or is it just hype and hysteria? |

The War on Terror is not a war. War is "A state of open, armed, often prolonged conflict carried on between nations, states, or parties" Terror is neither a nation, state or party. I object to characterizing it the same way as the War in Iraq, just as I object to the phrase "War on Drugs."
As for your main question in the title, the answer is both. |

Neither does he. I'm not quite sure why he bothers posting in this forum somethimes. At least a proper troll would write something intelligent, but controvertial, and sit back and watch all the fun kick off. However, he just writes a couple of lines that make him look stupid... |

I totally agree. I was just trying to pose the original question as unbiased as I could. My personal opinions pretty much coincide with what you stated.
Because of the nature of the media, it's hard to know just how worried or concerned I/we should be about the state of things. It's difficult sometimes to read between the sensationalist lines, so to speak. |

Wrong.
I dont think that what we are facing right now is a world war. I dont know about you guys, but from the two previous world wars, the countries that have been fighting have been strong with big armies and with good economy that can be able to fight a world war. But all these countries like Lebanon, Iran and whatever arab nation dont have the capicity to fight the west if they were to fight it. Also, I dont know why people put China in the mix? Maybe they do not agree with the U.S, but they dont want to get involved. Also, I dont know about North Korea, but I dont see them getting involved with the Middle East much.
The war on terror is like the fight agains communism. But now, we are dealing with uncivilized people, and this is our next challenge. Bottom line, this is far from a World War. |

Soon, there will be more threads about a possible WW III (even though the odds of it happening are quite low) than threads about Zidane or Nou.
