World Trade Center < Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift

rounding out the end of the summer film fest is World Trade Center, an Oliver Stone film. Easily one of the worst movies I have ever seen. It started out SOOOOOOOO great, but 1.5 hours of the movie is just two guys telling each other to stay awake while their families wonder if they are dead or alive. I'd always thought Stone could make films filled with impactful moments, but the only thing that got to me was the shot of the buildings on fire and the camera follows a body as it falls to the floor.
There seemed to be no significance to this film. The 9/11 story was covered from every media outlet in superior detail and this film didn't really add anything new. Flight 93 had some interesting facts about the military, the organization of the FAA and the unknowns of what might have happened in the plane. This was just two guys under some rocks and families crying. That marine guy was full of dramatic one liners, it was like Platoon all over again.
Btw, jesus was in the film and was handing out water bottles.
and for anyone that might know, spoiler, did the cop with the gun shoot himself or something? he pointed his gun toward the sky and the next thing u know, he's dead. |
