I have a lot of great ideas of how a kick ass trance track would sound like, so I sit down at my set and try to make the track that I am singing in my head, and I get something that is no where near what I wanted and I don't know if most of my productions even qualify as Trance.
Here is my latest track so you can get an idea of what I am talking about : [[ LINK REMOVED ]]
I would appreciate it if someone can point out the major production mistakes in this track.
Thanks in advance

ok, here is what im getting..
lack of effects.. repeteive and undynamic lead, the sub on the kick is all too much.. u cant use another kick as a clap/snare. all sounds needs equalizing.. there is no percussions going on. im not hearing any percussions except 2 kicks.. |

| I have the same problem. I end up with a cool (in my opinion) opening and then goes off in the woods somewhere. I'm sure with practice and patience, it will get better - at least I'm hoping :) |

i dont no how long you have been producing but it doesnt happen over night. some of my first tracks were embarassing and their still not at a level im happy with.
the way i learnt was by posting my tracks to see what people say about them and tell me the direction where to go. as a n00b your not going to get reviews by sitting on your backside and waiting. if you want reviews get reviewing other tracks. i was reviewing many tracks and learning from them also.
be prepared for the worst also. you will get alot of negativity towards your tracks, this you must take onboard and look into these areas. after a while you will see the difference. keep practicing and learning and trying ideas form other tracks also helps.
good luck! |

| first of all i see your a new guy around these forums so im just going to assume that youve just started producing...people take years to hone their production skills and its lots of time and energy and LEARNING to make trance (let alone good trance). so just keep trying man..also you should know that some of the best tracks come about from veering off an idea...and idea is just a start, a masterpeice is a "happy accident" in most cases. so dont be frustrated that your ending up somewhere you didnt want to.... |

I see.
To answer some of your speculations, I guess I started producing when I first got my hands on the Korg Electribe EMX-1 4 months ago.
I have a pretty busy scheduele so I have been playing around with prduction for like 1 hour a day since I got my Electribe.
I just wish I have had joined TranceAddict a long time ago, I have leaned a lot about the mistakes that I am doing in production in such a short period of time, and I could have worked on my mistakes a long time ago only if I knew.
Trance is the only thing that cheers me up when I am down and it's one of the few activities that I enjoy during my free time, it KILLS ME INSIDE not to be able to make some good tracks especially when I know how I want the tracks to sound. :nervous:
Time and patience I guess :)
Thanks for your opinion. |
