Sort of squinty but if you put my eyes from my icon with this pic, but you get the idea.
I am not really a regular @ Heaven, no. Just been there a few times. I go out in Montreal more than I go out in Ottawa really.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA thats what i would like to know people have classed me as that too :S a defenit break down on what uk style means would help out alot.
although we are production partners and our styles sometimes compliment each other depending on what were playing viv is heavely house influenced with a tad bit Of the good tribal. but she can defenetly throw down some of the hottest minimal and techy stuff when she gets in the mood so an elaboration on UK style would be great
cheers

hahahahahahahahha
you can't discribe it, it's like when u hear it, u just know,
Like the Stereo style lol once u hear a track or a set u say yeah its Stereo style ..loooooooooooooool
same thing with the UK style lol
Well in Mtl Dj's are well qualified in their genre, like each one has a certain genre, for example, Tribal House, Electro House or whatever
In Europe a Dj just does a mixture of all genres in the same set, u can hear the progressive house track along with the tribal track , with the tech house and the electro house.
Vivie-Ann and King Louis are the only ones i've heard that play like that in Mtl
That is what i qualify as Uk or European Style, since its the genre i used to hear in Clubs in the Uk and Europe when i was living there. |

| need some more elaboration unfortunately when i hear someone switching geners of electronic music i just think they are confused and dont have a specific style which is not always a good thing, a percussion in track does not always qualify it as a tribal track and when i say percusoin i dont only mean bongos or toms its a range of everything. its a hard thing to class a dj in the right genre. but ive never heard this UK style. maybe the dj has UK traits of djing or its just the tunes that you never hear anyone else in the city play but still not convinced on this UK style thing you talk about |

well its easier if u can go to Clubs in the UK :)

I think you react like that because Djs here stick to 1 genre and being used to hearing that , when u hear that some1 is switching u think they are confused, I am just assuming here.
But in europe it s a normal thing to switch, because playing Electro for 5 hours could be very boring, same thing if u play tribal or progressive all nightor any other genre.
By switching i dont mean like just jump from one thing to the other, there are alooooot of tracks that can be matched to different genres, for example u can play a a Tribal track and the next track u can play a Tech house track that has similar percussion sounds that matches the track before.
For me its better to do that. I like to have the crowd's attention all nite long, not just the first few hours. |

A dj set with nout but a genre would truly bore the out of me. Dance music is ever changing, so a genre is never the same and always receives influences, as long as chance and time permits.
To be honest though, I dont think it your generalisation makes much sense, there's no reason why djs in europe would mix up genres more than djs over here would.
I mix genres, but live here in montreal. Th' does that mean? ;) |

ahhh see i was waiting for you to say that, good on ya m8 but that does not necesseraly mean UK style thats just a good dj where elements from another genere can be infused within each other to creat one simultaneous on going set.
anywhooo
friday NIGHT :D

I agree with you moevalith
Maybe I shouldn't generalise like that
But for the past year i have spent here in Montreal, you can say that i have been in clubs 5 days on 7 and i didnt hear that alot.
The 2 Djs that, when i heard them play, just reminded me of Europe are King Louis and Vivie-Ann.
Surely they are not the only ones out there, but "sticking to one genre all night" is more spread amongst djs than the switching to all genre one.
Well thats what i have noticed :) |
