Two New Tunes from Ethereal/Orana Project

I haven't shared anything in a while (been busy studying and whatnot) but I've managed to finish a couple of tunes in the small intervals of time I have between studying.

They are both remixes, one is called "Houdini" by Tyler C, an electro house.

The other is an Orana Project remix to "Funkwaves" by Ricky M.

Top two songs on my myspace (which is in my sig) or right here:

Bump. Guess house isn't too big here.

interesting first tune (houdini remix). i like the variation in the bassline but i would enjoy it more if it wasnt built around an offbeat bass. probably easy to change just by adding a few more variations more regularly if that makes sense. overall i like it though its cool, i can imagine it in a scene from an american action movie involving possibly lots of high shiney buildings and glass shattering in slow motion, girls in shiny latex sommersaulting from building to building.. meh i duno!

I quite like chroma to, nice and deep sound to it, and the melodic elements work well with that kinda andy moorish bassline.

cool stuff, keep up the good work.

Great remix of my song Nishant, I love the bassline :D

haha never thought about it that way, lol. btw, chroma is being reworked, trying to tidy up some things in the track.

ricky and dave, thanks for the comments :)

Houdini Remix:

yeah this is cool, nice sounds, different style, this breaks stuff is suiting you well.

Funkwaves Remix:

bass is nice, production is fine too, but i dont feel its taking enough direction.

First one:

I like the bass a lot. Melody is kind of lame... not so much the composition (it's very housey), but the rythem... I would of spiced up the rhythm to give the track more drive. Sounds nice with the percs when it comes in... but again, I think if it had a bit more in terms of rhythm, it would have a lot more drive. Don't like 2:12 too much... kind of got bored with it at this point.. would of been better to keep the synth as it was and put in a chopped vocal line or something.

Funkwaves:

I think you sent me a demo of this while you were working on it... I still say the bass is way too wide. I heard a vengeance sample... same one I used in Ibiza Sun (the vocal thing). Note to self: stop using vengeance samples. Interesting break... I don't reallay like how it comes in with the same synths as the intro after. Might of been cool to have the plucks come in... but I guess that's sort of cliche. I would of done a bit more with that "funk" synth... the one that sounds like a mix between a saw and a pulse wave. Would of funked up the composition, in the least. It's not really funky at all... more progressive than funky.

It's electro house, too many percs would ruin the track

haha nothing wrong with Vengence! And we kept the breakdown the way it was because of what you said: to avoid cliche-ness. The "funk" synth was the only resemblence our remix had to the original and the whole track was based offa that synth melody rather than the original's main melody, so we left that bit alone. It's definately progressive, I wouldn't call it funky either, but it's not our choice on the title ;)

Thanks for input :)
