I always loved listening to chillout and downtempo but I suck ass at mixing it! All I do is simple crossfades...
Is there any technique you can do to make the mixes sound better?
Oh yeah I tried beatmatching but the songs BPMs are way to far apart. |

| whenever i try to mix ambient/chillout i just focus on the melodies, pads, and fx because usually there's no percussion. |

| Often you can beatmatch a track that doesn't have any beats by looking for other cyclic sounds such as keyboard presses on a synthesizer or piano. But that is probably best done by preliminary work with a computer and Ableton or Traktor software. Not really essential since the tempo is so slow and usually the tracks are not mixed very long in the transition. |

Thanks, but I was talking about mixing downtempo stuff like Ulrich Schnauss, BoC and Vibrasphere.
Like stuff with beats. |
