| The scene where Tim Robbins has escaped behind the poster, completely amazing. It's a top 20 film of mine... |

Do you think it was symbolic of being a poster on TA? |

| If Tim Robbins tried to hide behind me, i'd feel awkward about it. |

Would you at least agree that there are some memorable characters in the movie? This is where SR really shines. The characters and the catchy dialogue. If a movie is memorable, it's pretty damn good, imo. Of course there are other things that also make movies stand out in terms of what topic they deal with, how the film is chopped, directing, production, etc. |
I agree the dialogue is catchy. The characters aer a bit formulaic to me... but certainly not enough to make it a fatal flaw. Like I said it definitely IS very entertaining. |

Is Shawshank a fantastic piece of cinema? No
Is Shawshank a great piece of storytelling? Yes
Shawshank is a fantastic piece of cinema (it gets there through the backdoor :D) |
lol nice try... but for e i wouldn't say it's a "great" piece of storytelling. It's merely "good" storytelling of an averageish story. And to me good storytelling does not necessarily = great/fantastic cinema. That's for me personally... for you it may be a great piece of cinema. Indeed that may be the case for the overwhelming majority of theatre goers. That's the beauty of art - its all in the eye of the beholder etc.. |

The movie did nothing for me.
Just so many people seem to like it so much, that i'm trying to recreate what they might have experienced, in order to see if there is method to their madness. |

I have to say, for years when everyone said it was the best film ever, and I from hearing the sound title, always thought it would be a bunch of pap.
But I have to say its a great film, one of my faves, infact, I think I might buy it soon. |
