A little off topic, but does getting a ticket for no front license plate effect your insurance? (PC insurance)
Thanks. |
Hmmm...it could if this isn't your first traffic violation, and again depends on PC's rules...you should probably call them...
Or you'll find out when you get your renewal :nervous: :nervous: |

Don't call! The only way your insurer will know about it is if they run an "Auto Plus" search or request a copy of your driver abstract from the MTO. Despite what insurer's want you to believe they do not do this every time the policy renews as a $30 dollar search on every policy would cost too much money every year. Now, if you go calling them and asking then they may very well do a search to see why it is you would ask such a question.
Since PC is a direct writer I would recommend that if you must know you call an independent broker and ask.
BTW, someone mentioned Aviva earlier.... PC Insurance is also underwriten by Aviva Canada. |

i dont know moral, by insurance company logic, no front liscence plate could be considered high risk......
my mom is the worst driver i have ever seen, she cant navigate, cant move with the flow of trafic, performs panic manouvers all the time and narrowly escapes accidents on a weekly basis and she is considered a perfect record....... |

Well I think you can make general inquiries, though...
I don't think it will be necessary for underwriters to be pulling up an autoplus unless they are in the process of renewing the policy or underwriting new business...
As for the brokers...they could give you an answer...but again, different insurance companies have different rules...
Okay, try calling...if they ask for your policy number then hang up...hmmm...try calling other direct insurance companies (Aviva has other insurance companies like Scottish & York, OIS, etc.), if not then the brokers... |

Remember, I am trained in insurance company logic!
If your mom hasn't had an at fault accident or conviction then she has not proven herself to be a risk. Insurance companies can only act on things they can prove.... part of our fudiciary responsibility and the principle of utmost good faith. |

Ontario Insurance Service is a broker.... also owned by Aviva.
Aviva owns the following insurers.... General Accident, Canadian General, Traders General, GAN, Scottish and York, Elite, Pilot, Ontario Teachers Insurance Plan (I think that's it). They underwrite PC Insurance. Aviva is owned in whole by Norwich Union.
Most of the big insurers are owned by other big insurers. ING owns Halifax, Dominion of Canada, Allianz, Zurich (commercial lines), Belair Direct, Nordic, Royal & Sun Alliance and underwrites Meloch Monnex which underwrites TD Insurance.
Economical owns Economical Mutual, Waterloo Insurance, Perth Insurance, Federation, and Missisquoi.
Fairfax Financial owns Northbridge which owns Lombard Canada, Trafalger, Commenwelth, Federated, and Markel.
I'm sure I've forgotten some and Chemy will probably add to this later. |

No.
A couple years back I got 2 tickets one night. One was for lacking any sort of emission controls on my car and one was for not having the proper insurance slip. The nice cop (who could have towed my sorry ass but thankfully didn't) assured me that since these were not moving violations, my insurance would not be affected.
And it wasnt. :toothless |
