I've been planning a trip to montreal for a while now, just for a weekend. I told my boss a month ago about it, though i didn't have an exact date...
i told him today i have a date and he's like "uh what you talkin bout 'willis?"
then i explained and told him i wanted a half day off on the friday and maybe even monday off. he said he had to check to see who's on vacation...
I come back to him later and he says "oh, jackie is on vacation that week...
"but nobodys on vacation on the next week, so what about the monday"
"oh...thats the last week of august, so no"
so i'm just going to call in sick, for those 2 days...lose my job etc.
thers a lot better jobs closer to me that pay more than $11/hour anyways...
most would do the same if they hated their job anyways right? |

i'd apply for those jobs first so the period of time between jobs is less.
there's always a chance you wont get fired too.
use the excuse mentioned before. call out for chronic diarrhea. |

in ty jobs I learned the art of asking for time off and when they said I couldnt I said :
"Oh Im sorry let me rephrase that. Im not going to be here on these days, and Im letting you know so you can fill in for me" |

When I was working my ty, horrible and most despised job, I had let the manager know WAYYYYY in advance that I was taking a vacation the week after my birthday.
About 2 weeks prior, I reminded her, and asked her to arrange for my vacation pay to be included in my normal pay, and she replied "I didn't tell you you could have that time off".
I looked at her and said "I gave you notice about it months ago, and you had no problem with it then. Not to mention, it was marked on the calendar ages ago. I made the arrangements, so whether you give me 'permission' or not, I am going."
I was so pissed off. She tried to pull this "you can't leave during that time yadda yadda yadda" bull . I told her to kiss my ass.
And in the end, (quite some time later) I walked out in the middle of my shift one day... never to return :D |
