lol thing is I have been using vsts for the past three weeks now and man even using my virus classic sounded better. The sound quality on the lower frequencies sounded cleaner, je-no-wha-e-mean. I keep getting this naisy clicking sound with vsts thats the best way I can describe the sound. So what do you think? I still havnt orderd it although im going to..

Best part of Nordlead is of course the "made in sweden" tag ;)

Give yourself some time to learn and master the virus. (6 months atleast) Then consider buying, if you even need one at all.

Agreed. Learn what you've got first.

I am familiar with the virus TI, I had the virus classic before and I learned that one well. The ti is much way easier than the classic to get things done on. BTW I JUST ORDERD THE NORDLEAD 3 RACK! I know the virus thanks to memeber Derivative on this board guys a genius. Anywho I was going to get the nordlead 3 sooner or latter anyway.

SO YEA I JUST ORDERD IT AND ITS ON BACK ORDER FOR 22 Days :-C

Well if it makes you feel any better I dont have money to "toss" around. My pops helped me out and signed for a card from Musiciansfriend.com 's card. :-)

Best advice all thread. Sadly ignored :(

I would also change that 6 months to a couple of years. You can get the basics in 6 months.

If you must buy another synth though - why another VA?! Theres something of an obsession with virtual analogue to the exclusion of almost every other type of synthesizer on these forums and I will never understand why...

Hell if I had £1100 I would buy an analogue monosynth (maybe Future Retro Revolution). Put the rest in a savings account until I have mastered that baby then buy an Alesis Fusion workstation a year down the line when they have ironed out all the OS problems.

Conway. Face it. You have G.A.S. (Gear Aquisition Syndrome) :stongue:

Revolution is crap. speaking from experience. Besides, it only cost $650 USD, not $1100. Future Retro 777 - now that's a thingie to get.

Peace!

I have a Ti and NL3. You can make virus sound similar. But something in NL just makes it... different. And this is coming from a guy who tried NL number of times. I had NL1, NL2, NL2x, and NL3 (twice!).

Each time I dismissed NL without much concern. Once, I decided to sit down and figure out if I should sell it or keep it... and I am not selling mine anytime soon. :D

The sheer immediacy with which you can create sounds blew me away. Listen to the demo I created - this is nothing but NL3. I tried to make TI sound like that but couldn't. Most of the patches (like Solar Flare) or "Ice dropplets" would be damn hard (if not impossible) to recreate on virus. It's brighter and sometimes warmer than virus, that's just my opinion. To each his own. Word of advise, if you want older NL, go for NL1 Keyboard with PCMCIA expansion (to get 12voice poly) and Pro5 soundbanks.

Otherwise, stick to NL3. I was not too impressed with NL2 or especially 2x (sounded too bright, harsh, and down-right painful).

Bassline and lead is created by NL3 in this sample:
