Carl is getting a TON of mentions on here. I think that speaks volumes to the quality sets he spins.
I stood behind him on the stage at the party I mentioned at the first of the thread, so I got to take in his showmanship up close for a good hour before I had to start doing some footwork.
Kate Manus....I probably don't have the appreciation you have for his technique - you being a DJ and all - but he is a pleasure to watch even if you don't know what he is doing. |

| I think the best set I've seen Carl Cox spin was at the Area:2 Festival in 2002. Nothing beats Carl fanning himself with his own vinyl and yelling to the crowd on the mic. |

"Give it up for me....Carl Cox. C'mon!!"
I love his trademark mic shoutouts. |

I have two best nights that I've experienced at a club/party..
First being at the Guvernment/Kool Haus in March 2004 with Digweed and Corsten. It was my first time at Guvernment and my first time in a club that played EDM. It was too overwhelming being a newbie walking from the Digweed to Corsten room. I actually enjoyed Digweed more than seeing Tiesto at Guv in June 2004.
Second fave was at a club in my city last July and going nuts to a local area DJ named Jay Hamilton (similar sounding to Preach). It was a very small intimate club with about 300 people but the whole vibe felt like a big venue because people were enjoying themselves so much and in their own zone. That night I brought along a friend who had never heard any electro or progressive house but by the end of the night she was going crazy too and had a huge smile on her face! Danced for nearly 4 hours and had nearly as much fun as I did at Guv. |

Two stick out for me.
Carl Cox at Decadence 1 - that was the start of my love for techno
My fav party of all time.....Yoji....he owned me and he single handedly was able to change music for me. I have not truly been able to fully enjoy another night out since Yoji. If he comes back to Toronto that will be my last party |

Haha...I am mistaken...THIS was my first EDM event, not Decadence...and he dropped an impressive set that night (esp. the house portion of it!!!) :D :D |

oh hell yeah!! :D
I haven't always had the pleasure of being able to watch him from behind either out of the 7 or 8 times I have seen him.. though Dagobert last year was another night in particular that was amazing.
That is one thing I love so much about Carl.. he is just the life of the party! You can't help but shake your ass to his sets and I can't even think of how many people I know now who actually started listening to some techno because of him.
He just seems like such an overall nice guy too who has built up a pretty big empire between his Global radio, Space @ Ibiza nights, Carl Cox & friends tours, Intec etc..
I personally think every EDM lover should make it a point to check him out at least once.. well worth it! |

Reading all the posts reminds me of great times that have been had.. and brings back the regrets for times that I have missed..
My 2 favorite @ the moment..
Sander Kleinenberg - Space, Miami - WMC 2006
Although I had seen him before.. he was 100 times better this time.
Carl Cox @ Space - Ibiza (August 06)
This man owns the island. It was on my list of things to do in life.. and now that it has been checked off.. I can't wait to do it again.. :D |
