Hi guys,
It's Steven.
I could actually bring down one of my laptops - what else would we need & how much memory would all the sets take up?
Thanks - looking forward to seeing you all again!!!! |

at standard 44.1khz 16 bit stereo, according to wavelab i can fit 50 hours worth of recording into my remaining 30gb of disk space. so in theory you could fit 8 hours into as little as 5gb, but i'd allow at least twice that, just incase it needs the headroom for processing it
you wouldn't be able to record the full thing in one swoop though, since wav files have a 2gb limit (which is just over 3 hours at that quality).. but stopping & starting a new file at the end of each set should work fine.. then it would just be a case of converting each one to mp3 afterwards
as for what else.. a phono-jack connector lead (i can bring mine if no-one else has one) & a decent sound recording app, and you should be set (that's assuming the mixer has a seperate output.. mine is only a cheap one and it has 3)
would be awesome if you could get a mic to capture crowd noise & then blend it with the music like proper radio broadcasts do, but that's a little beyond me :p |

to get crowd noise, you'd have to take the rec out from the club mixer, run it through a seperate mixer, along with the mic that would record crowd noise, then take the output from that mixer into the laptop
You need to be careful what recording software you you to record. I done a 5 hour mix once, and soundforge couldnt save it, so i lost it all:whip: |

| Could we not just get one of the old style ghetto blasters & get someone to hold it in the corner? |

Looks like your mixer will be making an impromptu appearance then! |

lol, dont think so, you need a mixer with monitoring meters for each channel |

another option:
soundcard with multiple inputs (1/2 for mixer, 3/4 for crowd) and a multitrack recording software. oh, and a microphone of course, taped up somewhere would be fine.
it'll take some filtering to get just the crowd noise but it's not impossible. ;) |

or you could just leave it.. and get that kind of reverb effect you normally get in livesets which sounds wicked. makes it feel more 'live' :D |
