help with house music

| Hi im a dj here at the border scene here in texas and well all that get played here in nothing but psy/goa, minimal, and progressive. im not accustomed to hearing any house here so any artist recommendations for house music. i know i can just go to beatport and listen to the streams but honestly i know nothing of house. i would like to start by know which are the most heard house dj's and artist thanks. |

Well, there are a lot of different house sub-genres of course, so it would maybe help if you knew what type you were looking for -- that way recommendations would be more specific to your liking.
As for me, I like just about anything Desyn Masiello does -- he's my DJ of the moment. Steve Porter has a fairly unique style as well -- more funky, faster-paced mixes, etc. Kaskade or Marques Wyatt are my favorite Deep House DJ's, so that's more jazz-infused. Moshic plays a progressive tribal-type house. John Digweed and Sasha kind of meld genres -- right now both seem to be into melodic + electro. Luke Fair plays a really funky, fun style. Danny Howells is kind of a king of house, and plays a wide variety of styles.
Really, I'd recommend trying out some DJ sets to get a feel for what kind of tracks you like first, before going out and sampling random tracks individually. |
