Randall Jones is known, worldwide, as being amongst the most talented and experienced DJs and producers in the field of dance music. He began his career in clubs and afterhours in the sprawling metropolis of Houston, USA in the very early nineties. This was a special time in the history of dance music, when DJs would play a wide variety of music in their sets, and Randall’s roots in house music, new wave, hiphop, dub, drum&bass and industrial music were cultivated. In 1992 Randall picked up his mixing decks and moved to Philadelphia to continue his study of the art. For the next 10 years he made Philly his base and played superclubs up and down the eastern seaboard of the United States. He held residencies at Vinyl in NYC, Shampoo in Philadelphia and Stereo in Montreal, as well as playing guest spots at various other world famous venues such as The Tunnel and Twilo in New York City. In 1997 Randall turned his talents to production and with the help of mentors King Britt and Josh Wink, he got an internship in a top recording studio in Philadelphia. He began refining his sound and in 1998 formed Tigerhook Corps. As talented members joined the fold of the Corps, Randall’s work, both with Tigerhook and solo, began to be recognized worldwide. Originals and remixes were released by the best labels in the world, including house labels like Shaboom and EndRecordings, as well as more progressive and tech styled labels like Bedrock, Renaissance, Hooj and Saw Recordings. These tracks showcased Randall’s diversity. The labels were eager to purvey Randall’s deep, sexy, soulful sound. It was around this time he began to refocus on DJing…traveling the world and playing in the best nightclubs worldwide.
Currently, Randall is touring extensively, playing in cities like Buenos Aires, Moscow, Tokyo, Singapore, Santiago, Lima, Budapest, Mexico City, NYC, Toronto, SanFrancisco, Amsterdam, London and many more. He is asked back time and time again to play at the hottest venues because of his unique ability to rock any dancefloor with a sound that is thick, sexy, groovy and consistently forward thinking. On the production side, Randall is preparing to release his full length 2XCD project, “DJs Set You Free”, on a worldclass label. He will be touring in full support of that release in the coming year. He will also be promoting his new record label, MyntMusic, which is distributed through Intergroove in the UK, one of the world’s top distributors for dance music. Mynt’s homebase is Randall’s top of the line recording studio in downtown Houston, where he also produces music for TV shows and commercials such as CSI: Miami, America’s Top Model, The Discovery Channel and MTV.
Randall Jones is a rarity in the music industry today. He is a DJ that has not achieved his status through marketing ploys, PR agents and DJ lists, but rather through years of worldwide touring and close attention to his production. He is the rare DJ and producer that caters not to the whims of an industry, but to the decades old concept that is urban music, and to the culture and people that surround it.
