i disagree, considering it's coming from him & he was never 'cheesy' in the slightest to begin with. his style of trance was epic but had a deeper, darker feel to it, which i loved. i find it a shame he's taking the 'slow route' personally |
I think you should reread the post 'iso', nowhere in his post there's being stated that Miika produced cheese, first of all he's talking about his djing, which some of his sets consisted indeed of some cheesier tunes. Production wise like you said he never was 'cheesy' in the slightest to begin with, I agree 100%, now he's just taking it a few steps further..
Inwardgaze proved that already, it wasn't your typical trance album to begin with, it had already alot of influences..
Few hot remixes/tracks comin' up imo:
Modulation - White Flame (Miika Kuisma Dub)
Sied van Riel - My dreams (Miika's Lost Method Remix)
Miika Kuisma & Ollis - Awakening |

what's with the 'iso' :conf:
i know no-one was claiming he produced cheese; the emphasis of my post wasn't on that. i meant that if he HAD gone from producing cheese to producing deeper stuff, it would be a good change of direction... but in this case, since he wasn't cheesy to begin with & just wants to start making slower music in different genres, i personally find it a shame.
and i said 'cheesy' like that since i happen to disagree with what alot of people view as cheese when it comes to trance..
i wasn't referring to his DJing.. i don't believe i've heard a set from him infact so couldn't comment on that anyway |

i get the impression he thinks being original is playing the same tracks as everyone else. ie, jumping on the electro bandwaggon.
there so much variety and quality in trance at the moment, the likes of sander van dorn, ralphie b, markus skulz, askew and even simon patterson are producing a range of quality tunes.
this year may not have been as strong tune wise as last year but the genre is getting more popular (in the uk)again. |

actually the term kiksu didn't originally mean cheesy trance. its precursor kikkeli trance (willy trance, willy meaning penis here) was coined by orkidea afaik. lots of people used the term "pillu house" ( house, meaning vagina here) here in finland and orkidea said that if they play pillu house, then he plays kikkeli trance. then the term kikkeli trance was shortened to kiksu, by someone and i have no idea when. this is the way i've heard the term kikkeli trance and kiksu came to be.
and we all know that orkidea has never been playing very cheesy trance. kiksu just got a bad name just like the word trance did. :) |

nothing, it's just "short for" kikkeli trance, a slang term kinda. |

the word "kiksu" isn't really a negative word, it depends on who is using it. for example for a metal rock fan "trance" can be a negative word..
i think kyan and albert really nailed the meaning of kiksu in their track "kiksu". i wouldn't nessaery call it cheesy though? 138-140bpm uplifting tracks, tatw & asot peaktime stuff..

well orkidea has never really played similar tracks that for instance armin plays, but more progressive sort of melodic trance tracks..
like:
Sasha - Xpander
Man With No Name - Teleport
Hands Burn - Good Shot
Tilt - I Dream
Tilt - Rendezvous
Sander Kleinenberg - Venus & Mars
etc.. |

Same for trance jocks too, many of them play the same tunes too, rather poor argument imo. Tend to disagree on the variety and quality though, especially the variety, but each is entitled to his/her own opinion when it comes to music I guess |

| Kuisma does have a point but he is over generalising to an extent too. He has a right to say what he does because he does actually make innovative trance tunes. But none of them have been that successful. Sonic Kiss was proably the last tune he made that could actually be used in a main room and get a reaction. Sad if he jumps on the electro bandwagon tbh |

Bit harsh to call him a bandwagon jumper, Miika produced more original/(innovative) stuff than half of the whole friggin scene during the past 2/3 years.
What's the thing about not being successful anyway, he gets lots of support from other artists. His music fits dancefloors very well imo, lots of good tunes to start a set/proggier sets, and definatly a good amount of peaktime stormers also (Twisted, Pandemia,Yogatech, Scorcher remix, Vagabond remix, ..not to mention some new upcoming remixes as White Flame).
Why most of it doesn't appeal to the masses, that's because he never went for the easy accessible/generic/predictable music in the first place.
And judging some samples of tunes he's currently working on (such as Awakening with Ollis), it sounds very refreshing |

| He's got a bloody good point, I used to go crazy buying vinyls every bloody week, now I dont hardly buy anything new at all (I dont download it either before you ask) - nothing grabs me as much anymore! trance wise that is :( |
