Not familiar with FL here, but on most of my bass sounds I will try a gate, and a chorus.
Set the gate treshold to about 6-10 dB below the peak level of your sound, set the attack around 20 ms, and the release around 100 ms. Playing with those parameters will drastically affect your bass sound so that it doesn't cut through as much.
The chorus on the other hand brightens it up a little, but try to stay under 10% mix to avoid out of phase signals cancelling out each others.
In any case, try everything and go with what your ear tells you. |
