Speedy J live PA :: Novamute : Plus8 : Warp : http://www.speedyj.com : NL
Jocham Paap has had a production career with more twists and turns than an electric eel. From providing the beats and scratches for a local hip-hop outfit in the late 80s (where the name 'Speedy J' stuck) to becoming a member of techno's hierarchy through gilt-edged dancefloor releases on Richie Hawtin's and John Acquaviva's Plus 8 and Warp to ripping the rule book to pieces via his jigsaw sound puzzles on novamute and subsequently returning to the floor once more for
2002's 'Loudboxer' opus and current 'Collabs' (2004) 12"
co-productions, he has steadfastly furrowed his own path of sonic exploration.

Speedy J is good for people who know who he is and like techno (like me for example). I'll see what I can do to make it to this though. :sadgreen: |

Acid Circus Bio

in an industry where dj's are no longer the only ones dominating the action with pressed wax, live pa s have taken digital mixing to another level. no strangers to tweaking and freqing everything within ear shot, the members of acid circus constantly display their ability to drop samples, synths, mashups, general techno grit and grime in and out of the mix for an ultimate trip in pure crowd reaction.
operating mainly on laptops, they smash the myth that laptop techno is meant for computer geeks to glitch out to in front of their monitors. their live performances are intense, energetic, raw and present a true persona that many other live pas lack.
besides acting as ambassadors for the westcoast sound, they have been involved with every aspect of LA's techno movement and spearheaded it in many ways. acid circus is an integral part of droidbehavior.

Drumcell Bio
founder of Droid Recordings and co-founder of Droid Behavior, drumcell is is one of techno's greatest allies in southern california. a graduate of the musician's institute and a long-time performer, he has a long history of musical and audio training. after being exposed to indoor and outdoor raves in the 90s, he grew addicted to the sounds of acid, industrial, techno and gabber and quickly got some decks to satisfy his new vinyl fetish. after years of djing and networking with like minded individuals he has established himself in los angeles as one of the major players in the local techno movement. His musical diversity has earned him a reputation for extremely hard, dark, and uncompromising sounds as well acidic techno and razor-sharp minimalism.
associating with the members of acid circus to form droid behavior was the next logical step to raise awareness for the new la techno scene and expose local artists as well as more well-known djs and pas from around the country. After several years of promotion, parties, records and everything in between, droid has become the center for la techno and drumcell remains steadfast in his mission of putting this city on the map.

I'm down. J is cool and I want to check out John von. I've had 'Loudboxer' in the record collection for some time now, will be nice to see the man in person. Jeez, Speedy's been around for ages - over 15 years in the business crafting techno.acid.experimental, guy's a vet! And the last Droid Behavior event I went to with Apparat blew my mind away to so many pieces. That and Droid brings the best visual artists around, so you not only get aural but visual stimulation :D This event is gonna be off the hook! Can't wait.
