This is simply an awesome track.
Right up my street, i can understand where the 1999 comments come from however i think this would work today aswell.
The track for me could maybe use an edit without the blackhole style lead, maybe tone things on the riff down and keep it more proggy like the first few minutes of the track were.
Overall loved it, and would love a playable version for sure. |

Track sounds nice.. the real nomen nescio sound in it.
Btw congrats with armin playing the rnm tune in his asot 262 show!!
When does the other track Waves of Arashi be released?
Peace!

First of all, glad you like the track and thanks mate, Rick (RickyM) and I are very happy with being played on ASOT by Armin. And of course Peter (Marninx) has done a marvelous job on the remix.
Waves of Arashi is set for a release early 2007 probably depending on remixes and/or other tracks which will be added to the release.
S-tune and Adrian, thanks for the comments. Glad everyone is enjoying the track :) |

Hi Menno!
Yeah loving the bass sound here and the build up of the percussion. Some very nice sounds you have with the lead synths too and the choir-type pads.
Maybe the kick could do with a bit more punch? Just a thought. EQ should do the trick. (IMO :))
The sequencing is really nice. Good use of reverb and stereo in the breakdown.
I would say this is a very classy progtrance track. You are getting a bit good at this arent you mate :)
All the best and thanks for your kind words about my leg hehe. Im getting there!
Cheers
Martin :D  |

Thanks guys. Glad you more or less both agree it sounds different than my usual stuff. That is what I set out to do with this track.
The kick more punch, yeah perhaps it could. I did EQ the kick already. I like it the way it is now, not a big thumping kick but a more gentle one. It goes well with the big percs. Once you change the kick the percs will also sound differently with it.
Cheers anyways! And keep them coming folks :) |

Thans Kopi, good to read you like it. Personally I do not know what the early trance feel of this track is since it is not really epic or uplifting :)
Cheers! |

Hey Nomen, another addition to your discograpy - let's check it out ...
Intro:
I understand what they mean with the 1999 feel, it's the wet beat/bass/ohh combo... (*)
Signature bassline is gone :(
To me the snare roll at 1:50 seems unecessary
The Break:
Sudden stop of the percussion at 2:56 - could be more gentle
nice atmosphere at the start of the break , nice soft strings
The lead reminds me of a C64 game, the "last ninja" (although much more clean and phat of course), and doesn't really do it for me, would have expected a more stellar sound here ... but hey .. it's progressive ... i know ...
The bassline's note change isn't very transparent (4:55), the bass sound clearly has more power in its higher notes, and loses it completely in the lowest part.
The whole track seems kind of wet, but it doesn't really bother me though - could be part of the reason it reminds everybody of the 99's (*). The mastering seems a little heavy, everything seems kind of pumped (could be the streaming quality of course)
All in all, pretty cool track,
Regards,
J. |

I like the wide precs layer.
The buildup isn't that interesting.
The break comes.
The lead sounds nice.
It's not bad.
7/10,

Thanks Groundzero for your long review :) The signature bass can not be overused hey, but I might use it again in another track ;)
The Drow, I actually agree up to a point that the build up is not that intresting. It is hard making a super build up in a more chilled track i.m.o. In a big epic track one can just use bits and pieces of the big theme already but here that was hard to do since the melody is not that important in this track.
Anyways cheers you both! |

I think that you should use another melody in the buildup anyway.
And sometimes even change melodies inside the buildup.
It's really boring to hear the main theme all over and over.

Very epic opening. I'm with Rich on the '99 feel already.
I really like your lead in the intro, and its subtlety.
The tribal drums could be louder to give the break more rhythm.
Not bad. Very rhythmic feel. |
