Basically he's right. All a Podcast is is a downloadable recording of a radio show. DJs have had the option of doing it for a long time now, and many have been (As a quick example, Armin let ETN provide torrents of each episode of ASOT until it became syndicated). Hell, most DJ radio shows have been available from P2P applications for the longest time, and people have always been able to upload those to their IPods.
The only difference is that the Podcast is automatically uploaded to you, as opposed to the user taking less than twenty seconds to do it themselves. That, in my opinion, doesn't really make it special. |

Podcasts aren't anything ground breaking as many of us were doing basically the same thing for a very long time albeit through inconvenient means.
I really enjoy the convenience of podcasts and for the type of material I can get with them ( which in many cases would NOT exist elsewhere ).
I listen to podcasts from:
nyt
npr
guardian unlimited
wired
various french radio stations
pri
voice of america
BBC
Financial Times
ps: Nou if you had any clue you'd realize podcasts can be much more than just mp3s.

Quality and accessibility of these types of radio shows isn't always perfect and at times spotty at best. |
