Try and make sure you haven't got any crap running in the background.

It's always a good idea to have your music apps installed on a separate hard drive with a separate installation of windows if you can - then do dual boot with your main drive with all of your games, apps etc on

Just keep your music drive to Windows (with service pack 2, but don't bother with any Windows updates after that and disable the ethernet adapter on that install of Windows), music software and samples etc.

Download any samples or anything from the net when booted up with your other install, virus check them, then stick them in a folder you can copy across when you're back on your music boot.

Anyway, basically, the two hot items right now are the Athlon 64 X2 and the Core 2 Duo. Personally, I'm getting the Core 2 Duo since I get a massive discount on it (I work for Best Buy). But both are very good.

Cracked software makes all difference 99% of the time... I know loads of people who get by without a single problem with a stack of illegal software...

Not saying it's right by any means and I don't encourage it, but saying that seems to be everyone's first reaction when they don't even have a clue whether the person they're talking to has legit software or not, made completely for the sake of trying to make yourself look good...

This isn't really supposed to be a personal attack, loads of people say it on here as the first response to "why doesn't my software work?", just thought I'd point out that it's rarely the problem and you don't achieve anything by saying it :)

That's why I said it...'cuz I had no clue, and neither did anyone else who read that...and jokingly...guess too many people actually assume that...anyways...

I've had too many bad experiences with Intel to get anything from them for a while, but at the very least, that thing will make AMD drop their prices a whole lot, so

It's more than likely this, but if you're still hellbent on building your own pc then go here. They sell everything you need to build your own computer.

That place always seemed sketchy to me. Have you ever actually bought & received something from them?

My parents bought me a couple hard drives as well as some other stuff from there which I forget at the moment. They also deliver nationwide and I think they have their own stores as well, but that's rare.
