I need a very informative answer for this question of mine:
What's the best technique for blending vocals into a MAIN lead.
&
What's the best way to record and get a clear sound without noise and etc.
I also need to know the best software for adding effects to vocals.
Thanks,

A) Depends on the lead.
B) Balanced, Shielded cables, small sound proofed recording room. |

I disagree. Medium sized rooms are the best unless you've got a professional vocal booth. Small rooms with acoustic treatment done wrong will just make your vocals lifeless. Here are some of important points IMO:
- Most important, a good condenser microphone with a good preamp.
- Record in 24-bit. This is also important.
- Get silent fans for your computer.
- Balanced cables are a plus, but not really needed unless you get alot of ground loop noise.
- Record in the center of the room, away from the computer.
- Well furnished room, the more clutter the better. :D
- Use a pop shield with the mic. The metal ones are the best.
- If you want to you can hang a duvet/matress or something on the wall behind the vocalist.
You will always get a little background noise from the computer, but it should almost be inaudible and the little that is heard can be filtered away with a noise gate. |
