Hi everyone, sorry to come in you like this, but i am looking for a big favour.
We (Adventurs of music) are looking for Vintage Musical equipment - anything which was used for music production back in the days: Piano, mixing desk, microphone, old computers, old software (Cubase or Logic etc) and even instruments etc. Anything will be considered. As we have no money left it would be greatly appreciated if you could donate anything to us which is in PERFECT WORKING ORDER and in very good condition. Postage and packaging will
be paid.
All equipment will be used (apart from the back-up lot) to demonstrate the use of vintage equipment to young people accessing our music education project in Edinburgh. This for educational purposes only.
Questions which may be asked:
What exactly is 'Adventures of Music'?
Adventures of music is a new dynamic music educational project aimed at providing young people aged 13-21, who live in Edinburgh, the chance to enter into a short music course of there choice, giving them the basic skills and knowledge in order to go onto further education. We are primarily a stepping stone for young people to help achieve their future goals - whatever that may be.
Why do you need the equipment to be working and in good condition?
We are hoping to obtain x2 of each item we receive. This is because one will be used as back-up incase something happens to the one on display (brakes, gets damaged, building goes on fire - god help us). Now and again young people will beable to use the vintage equipment to see what it was like in old days, as an educational programme which is part of our aimes and objectives. We do not want to display and show the use of vintage equipment which is on it's last legs - it will look awful and will no doubt fall apart after a few uses.
How do i know you are not keeping all this equipment for yourself?
Unfortunatly this is something we cannot proove at this present time as we are awaiting status in order to obtain our licence business number as a non-profit organisation. The project will not be starting untill September next year 2007 - this is in order to have everything set-up and ready. Anyone who knows what it is like starting up a project (especially educational ones), will know it is very difficult and takes a lot of planning and permission from the Scottish Executive (in regards to Education) and laws & regualtions on working with children. If you like, once we have started-up we will send you a copy of clarrification of our business registery details (limited to some parts of course) and will invite you to see the 'vintage suit' and your contribution, and to our open day.
What is in it for me if i donate something?
Your name will be displayed (on permission) on a platter up on the wall stating what you have contributed. You will also be invited to come and see the vintage suite if you wish (at your own travelling cost) and to our open day.
Will you pay for postage and packaging?
Yes of course, after all you have made the effort and have been kind enough to send us the item. Items must be sent via a respectable courier company (we will pay for it).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once we have received your item we will send you a letter confirming this and an invitation to come along to our open day.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and i hope you make a contribution to the young people of our future.

If you have any queries please email instead of making ridiculous CHILDISH reply's. Educational course are hardly 'DUMB' as you put it - referring to the thread. This music equipment is for a good cause. If you don't respect that please dont be an idiot and reply with POINTLESS remarks. Im sure people have unused equipment they dont need, we have already received several items. |

I'm very sorry to say that, but his reply wasn't that childish as you put it :p
you said that yourself, you can't proove anything...
in your skin, I would leave these ads for the time when you have everything atleast partially started and can setup some proofs...
in no way I'd use the same words as him though...but he's much righ! |

Thanx for the sensible reply. We have already received some items and we understand it will be sometime untill we have what we are looking for. The project will be launched regardless of whether we have all the vintage equipment or not. Like i said people are more than welcome to come to the open night, im sure thats more than nough proof. It is all about trust, if no one believes us then that is there problem. |

well unless im mistaken people with unused equipment usually go to ebay and sell it where there will make very close to the amount of money they paid for it. so if i buy a pro-53 for £200 and can fetch £150 for it would i give it away for free to an organisation i know nothing about and have no prove of its existence or sell it and make money? hmmm
if you want free stuff go to a charity shop. if people are giving equipment away for free i think it would go to a better place like one of TA's members studio rather than gathering dust in a museum so to speak. |

Why would you need people to send software, considering the list of warez you presented recently :)?
Anyway, how can you expect someone to send hard-earned equipment for something you don't even prove the existance off? You're even adding a hotmail address lol. Your topics never cease to surprise me. |

You really have trouble reading don't you. A better place? what is that meant to mean? so teaching children about the use of what it was like in the old days is not considered as a value or a better place as you put it. You obviously have no respsect to teaching do you and obviously see children, wich you one were, just to be thrown in the gutter with your reply's. |

I have no idea what Warez means, could you please expand? We need people to send VINTAGE software, lets get that straight, we cannot simply afford to buy over 1m pounds worth of equipment, our budget is alread quatre of a million and has been assigned to be sent on NEW up-to-date music equipment and software (we dont have a say on where the money goes as it is controlled by charities and the funders). I cannot go and purchase a car for example. Again please READ the questions. We do not use our own email address as to avoide spam emails, which happened a few weeks back. Which is why i set-up a hotmail account also, makes it so much easier for us to track what emails are coming in. I really see nothing funny about that. As for the excistance - READ READ READ. |

valid point.
are you going to teach them how to crack software alliance?
if children want to learn about music they will apply for the wide range of courses offered. id they want to see vintage instruments a museum has plenty of these. your plan is completely pointless and would be a waste to good musical equipment. |
