What is the general opinion about France in Europe ? I was browsing something when I happened to read this | quote: |
If you don't know jack about wine, you're really missing out — but you've come to the right place. This stuff has fueled parties for thousands of years and has even given a doormat country like France a modicum of respectability, so you really should introduce yourself to it |
Doormat country ? :haha: What an insult. Then I happened to read this news article on Google
There seems to be a lot of french bashing in this article as well. If you follow current affairs, I for one was appalled to read that ,
| quote: | After the French had taken a vociferous lead in drafting the UN security council resolution (in the Israel-Lebanon conflict) that brought about the ceasefire, it was shocking to discover that France was offering just 200 soldiers towards a UN force of 15,000
|
200 soldiers ? wtf peanuts !! To think of all the noise they made about Israel attacking Lebanon and taking the leadership in drafting the UN resolution, this is a pitiful contribution indeed.
Why is France at the receiving end of jokes pretty much all the time ? Sorry if ther are any french guys in here. I just wana know teh truth |

It is kind of an overlooked country in terms of prejudice I think. Despite haven't been to it yet, I've nothing against it.
When I was at school learning French, I eventually lost interest in the whole thing, due to constant brain bashing on the country.
I guess you'd would only really have a solid opinion unless you went and stayed there for a while. |
