just received this
| quote: | It is happening, we're working on things for Cherry Beach this monday of the
long weekend and will send out a detailed email about it tomrrow or saturday
night. Thanks for the patience.
Also, we're looking for volunteers to go up to the Harvest festival farm this
coming wednesday and thursday. Email us about that if you're interested. This
week up at the site was gorgeous - the volunteers and us are all proudly
sporting farmer tans and some new muscles!
cheers,
David and Irving

Oh if only the Star wouldn't of printed that stupid article about the Cherry Beach Parties, then maybe the party would of gone smoothly. From now on...watch your backs when we go to Cherry |
I'm sure the aticle had nothing to do with it.
the police do it once in a while just to remind everyone that they're calling the shots. |

Duh..of course the article had nothing specifically to do with this bustup, but....Did ya miss the post where I said articles draw attention and bureaucrats react. It's like a mission to some ppl. They are off to save the world from evil young ppl. Young people spreading luv..having fun...ohhhhh that's horrible :eyes:

A message from Dave & Irving of Promise about today's Cherry Beach
So the good lads were met by some boys in blue when they arrived today to set up this free party for us all.
The police informed Promise that they would not be allowed to set up their soundsystem.
Dave and Irving are down at the beach still and there are lots of people hanging out. A band has gone home to get their instruments and they think Yoshie and Chi will be doing an acostic set up some point. . .
No DJs or dancing today though. Methinks the police should have found something better to do. . . surely someone is committing a crime somewhere in the city today, ya' think?
I can't post in rollcalls as I'm a promoter. . . if someone could copy this into the roll call thread it would be nice.

So a couple friends and I went to Cherry beach at 3:30 p.m. and David and Irving were there to great people (to say the least) to let them know the cops were there waiting for them when they arrived to give them a fine for a no-permit party. So people startign going to the actual beach no music though, but we sat there listening to the tranquil lapping of the water coming up on the shore.
To bad they ended. . . . no cheery beach next year it looks like :( but we will all have to wait and see!
Farewell cherry beach it was fun while it lasted |

FYI This was part of the latest newsletter from my sailing club
The Toronto Waterfront Revitalization Corporation (TWRC) is working in
partnership with the City of Toronto and TEDCO on plans to develop
transitional sports fields on a site located between Cherry Street and
Regatta Road south of Unwin Avenue in the Port Lands (i.e. in the area
normally used for the Sunday Raves) This project is planned to include two
regulation-sized sports fields on City parkland. They will be adjacent to a
proposed initiative including basketball and other sports facilities on
Toronto Economic Development Corporation (TEDCO) lands. ENVIsion and the
Hough Group and Earthtech Canada have been retained to provide environmental
and design services for this project.

Open house 7.30 – 9.00 p.m.
Presentation and discussion Toronto Hydro - Cafeteria, 2nd Floor 500
Commissioners Street (Corner of Commissioners and Carlaw)
As this affects our area and club, it would be good to get as many people out
to voice our concerns. Ed note: It is quite ironic that the city has
this ‘green’ policy, yet will be cutting down lots of trees for what is
planned as a temporary field.
