Lag and sound cutting out?

Ok so my computer is a p4, a Gina20 soundcard and 512 ram, and anytime I get anything complicated going on, it starts to gut out almost? It'll freeze the computer for a second and all cut back in suddenly numerous times.
What is it I need to improve to make this stop? |

| Change the latency of your audio out and use the ASIO4all drivers. If it still starts to get all crazy with your automations and different types of synths you're using, then start bouncing your sounds to audio tracks and import them. You won't be able to automate certain effects anymore, but it's just so you can get an overall idea of how it should sound. |
