NYTA visiting Paris Sept. 15-25

bon jour,

I'm going to be visiting Paris for 10 days next month. Presently I have no plans, don't know where I'm staying, and what I'll be doing. I hope you guys could give suggestions...

I plan on doing a lot of toursity stuff ... museums, versailles, etc. but would also like to get a feel for the real paris, whatever it may be.

What are some good places to stay?
Not looking for a fancy hotel, but a decently priced hotel/hostel would be nice. I'll probably be doing tourist stuff during the day and partying during the night, so I just need a safe place to leave my stuff, sleep, and shower.

What bars/clubs/lounges/afterhours are worth visiting?
I'll be there for a whole week and two weekends so I hope to catch some good nightlife. I like tech/house/minimal but anything not R&B/Hip-Hop/Pop is acceptable.

I don't speak french but I'm not too worried about that. I figure I can pick it up in a day or two.

Merci beaucoups.
-SidMl.

ps. you guys should put up a visitors thread like we have on the New York boards: http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...threadid=253251

Hi, welcome to France!

-> Here below two links where you can find nearly all the information you need about scheduled parties :
http://www.lemonsound.com/agenda,list,0.html
http://www.parisbouge.com/soirees/avenir/

-> Bars: http://www.parisbouge.com/adresses/pubs/
-> Nightclubs: http://www.parisbouge.com/adresses/...ut=boite&type=3

-> Shopping: http://www.parissi.com/shop/index.php

-> Hotels, the most difficult to find! I advise you to use the following website:
www.booking.com
You can make a first list based on availability and price ad then ask us what would be the best in terms of location (“arrondissements”) because it can be important! Do not hesitate to ask ;)

Yeah Anne's got you pretty much covered with her post.

Otherwise I thought I'd let you know that taxis there are super expensive, for one they don't have flat fees to and from the airports like they do in The City ( Manhattan that is :p ).

I'm sure I'll think of extra stuff but I believe you should also check out Palais de Tokyo ( website link ) if you are into contemporary art. Don't let the name fool you; it doesn't really have anything to do with Tokyo specifically.

You may also be interested in checking out the street and flea markets like Les Puces..... for a taste of the 'real' Paris.

ps: are you the guy on the right in your avatar? I recognize Lizz and Jay's gf ( don't remember her name at the moment :confused: ).

You may find some of the bigger parisian names but not many if any djs with any international reputation but it's still a fun thing to go to.

In short, you don't go there to see big names.

Here is a list of the trucks and organizations participating:

http://www.technopol.net/technoparade/leschars

This year will be the 10th year they do the parade, and it's also the 20 years of house music so it's gonna be super special ... whatever that's supposed to mean to them :haha:

There's also going to be gathering of funds for a humanitarian organization that helps with starvation in Africa and stuff like that.

Yeap, unfortunately... :rolleyes:

well, expect to see: David Guetta, Joachim Garraud, David Vendetta... Antoine Clamaran (and many house/electro french dj's :p)

and many more unknown (=local) dj's of different (underground?) styles, like techno, drum&bass, hardcore(?), minimal techno/electro, house/disco house...

to jdat: it's NOT the 10th edition, BUT Technopol is 10-year-old (a lil' bit different) ;)
