i am debating whether or not to go for my masters degree later on in life. i heard you can make more money if you have a masters degree, but i don't know if it depends on what your field is?

Well, it sure won't hurt you as far as marketing yourself.

Some masters degrees you will study just for the sack of studying with it potentially never being of any real value later on in life.

What are you studying right now?
AndreaCKY772
hmmm...

i am studing communications, psychology and japanese and i am going to go into marketing/advertising and POSSIBLY pr (public relations).

Just like da other person said an Mba is a good add-on masters that's pretty versatile in advancing you in any type of field really.

In my particular field, IT/Comp SCI, an MBA or MIS would benefit my career greatly and help me move up in my firm. I base my words of what managers, directors and executives have told me and their education backgrounds.

My friend Pat just graduated with a masters in CompSci and is working his first corporate job at a salary of 59K + Bonus. Also his masters only took 1 year after he received his BS degree.

One thing that almost deterred me from persuing my masters is that I was currently employed full time right after college. However I am almost 1/3 done with completing a doublemasters (MBA/MIS) at BU online. Estimated time, about 3-4 years part time / 2 years full time.

Sounds great to me.

hmm... i'll have to consider. i could be taking a risk or gaining an asset...

and i hope there really won't be a problem getting a job for marketing since so many people are going into it!

IMO the only reason to wait to get your Master's is if you select an employer that would help you pay for it.
