i care and so do the people i'm meeting! some of us come from out of town, dealing with traffic, flights, bad weather and general unpredictability due to a variety of things. i think when you spend so much money and time trying to catch your favorite artists/djs it's fair enough to at least know accurate set times and do your best not to miss anything....that is the ONE predictable thing i have to base anything off of in terms of getting there in time

CU THERE!!!!!! Only 20 mins from my house this time. Cant wait. I am getting ready now.

So it was a pretty good night. I couldn't believe what Paul played. It definitely did not feel like PvD until he was winding things down. He was so techy. I guess it was appropriate for the venue which by the way I thought was kind of lame.

The lasers were cool though. Oh ya, no crowd? It was a 3000 person event, and I don't think there were more than 800 people there. I hope they were at least able to break even. Anyway, most of the crowd was horribly obnoxious. You had your candy ravers and then you had the Jersey Guido circle of stomping. It's too bad Emerald City closed down because it would have felt much better there.

Anyway, pretty good night even though I didn't feel like dancing much. It was good to see PvD change it up a little.

Personally, I loved his set. I was scared that he was going to play comercial chez for most of the set since it was so short, but I was pleasently surprised. I luv it when he gets hard, that's why i luv his 6 hour sets b/c you are guaranteed at least one hour of nasty tech trance. His encore was his normal time of our lives, for and angel, nothing but you, and mind circus, but other than that it was total sickness.

I'm sorry but that venue was ing sick, I don't know how you can even think to compare it to E.C. I also don't know how you found the crowd obnoxuious, there was plenty of room to separate from ppl you don't care for. I'm Italian and I consider myself a 27 year old raver at heart so I take offense to both of your remarks. As long as ppl are having fun, who cares how they are dressed?

I'm a hard core PVD fan, I've seen him almost every time he's been in NY, D.C., and Miami in the past 6 years, I you not. This was honestly the first time in 5 years that I had room to dance the way I want to, and I am so grateful for that. The last time I could comfortably dance during a PVD set was at the D.C. Armory in November of 2001.

Though I doubt they broke even, I have to give mad props to Local 13 for keeping the scene alive in philly. I pray that the word will spread about how great this venue is, and hopefully that will lead to more profitable events in the future. I think you found a real gem. I couldn't believe that such a place exists here, and I can't remember the last time I had so much fun in this city. Keep it up, you're the only hope we've got right now.

Whoa seems like you had fun PVDream and I thanks for the great review. After a long week of working I was just so out of it to even drive upthere. It seems they weren't strict ob the dress code which I find awesome because only Cubik/Nation is the only other venue that doesn't have a dresscode. I think mommy420 took some pictures so I hopefully will see hwo this place looks like. They contuine bringing top talent I will def. be paying visit

Can I get an AMEN!!! I think they did about 1000, which is typically for philly; people sit at home and bitch and complain rather than support OMG it's $40? blah bleh blah.. but they'll pay $150 for Eagles tickets...(rolls eyes) I think Local 13 probably anticipated that and thus set the ticket prices a little high.

The occupancy of Emerald city is only 4-500, (not leagally!) and it would have been AWEFUL (and I used to work there so I bleed a lil "green") remember the bathrooms at NYE or Oakenfold? Ugggggh! The cruise terminal was freaking MASSIVE!!! They had stadium-like staff so bathrooms were always clean, bar was well organized, very user friendly, if you will. The only think I didn't like too much was the long and narrow, I think we preffer wide so there is more "up front" room, the funnel effect took hold quickly. But yeah, there was enough room in there to do whatever you wanted, which I dunno, I guess it upsets people not to be sandwiched like sardines one in a while. But they had no dress code, and it seemed like no id required to drink.. which they may want to fix in the future before someone kills themself.

BRING ON THE TECH! Standing there pumping your fist is fun and stuff, but hey- I want diversity in my trance cause I want to dance! Not just stand there e-tarded! The encore I.M.O. was better... didn't he start playing Another way or forbidden fruit before his manager yanked him off?? and the breaks mix of mindcircus... LOVE IT! And what girl doesn't like it hard?? LOL.. give it to me!!!

Myers and Skribe had great opening sets, many didn't show up until 11:30, and wow that place is intimidating empty! And people who blow off the openners really DO miss out; that's the local talent, the grassroots, and what we need to keep EDM alive... yet we decided to time and time again shoot ourselvces in the foot; and why? got somewhere cooler to be before hand? Jimmy's late with your 8-ball? c'mon!

Thanks to Bill who granted me stage access...(Text messages DOXY, fix them!!) I can't wait to see how all my videos (from paul's point of view) turned out.

BTW; props to Jeff Heart and Jimmy Mac; that building must have been a challenge to get the nice even sound that they had!

the venue is awesome. and the sound system was amazing. the crowd, though a little preppy imo (but thats philly for you), was very friendly. the only guy who freaked me out was the pumped up guido pushing pills on everyone (i think his line was, 'how many ya want?' lol) mike meyers rocked it. he played deep and hard. a track that stood out was yello - oh yeah 'oh six - sander van doorn remix (the one with the ferris bueler beat). he was also a cool guy, met him after the party.

as for PvD, he scared me for a sec when he opened with 2 humdrum tracks, but the third track he flipped the switch. the only track that stood out was the one 'love me, hate me' (anyone know this track?). at 2:15 i was thinking to myself, hmm, is he going to play longer, then he dropped time of our lives and i knew it was close to the end. imo, he should have stopped playing after he dropped Nothing but you. instead he closed with a break version of mind circus. an ok track, but a sucky finale. i like the gabriel and dresden version better anyway.

all in all, had a great time...
djstopngo
wasn't there, but I bet the track you're thinking of is

kyau & albert - Are you fine?

can't wait to see him 2night in chicago!

i liked paul's set... it was unpredictable and very untypical for a 2 hour set. it didn't have the consistent banging energy from start to finish, rather, it started on a lighter housier note into tougher techier beats. that makes sense to me because i have to say the crowd was completely dead. only in the last few minutes when people screamed and danced to try to keep paul playing did it feel like the room had the energy that one expects at a pvd event.

party production --- the laser was top notch, really damn cool
the sound and acoustics - terrible. in most areas of the room, all you could hear was mainly distorted bass

i dunno much about the philly scene if there is one... but i feel like charging 55 at the door and 45 as of a week ago was way too expensive. this costs more than roseland in nyc which is a 6 hr set and the coolest thing in the world for a pvd fan (to catch a 6 hr set)!! but the room was certainly empty, and perhaps if the cover was like 35 dollars they could have a much better turnout. nonetheless, a comfortable and enjoyable event.

i had fun....
