Yeah
Protools works on both XP and Mac OS...both versions of protools softwares (LE & HD) work on both operating systems, the only thing is that you need to buy the hardware, for the LE u can use a simple MBOX 2 to be able to use it, simply plug it to ur comp USB and you're ready to go.
A few things to be mentionned though since I've been using protools for 5 years now, Protools LE doesn't support morethan 16 Audio Tracks, if you want to go for morethan that, you need to obtain Protools HD, which is around $25,000 including the HD hardware, that's too much money and that's why protools is only being used by professionals...one more thing to be added here, protools doesn't support VSTs, you need to get a VST TO RTAS converter to convert your VST plugins and use them with protools...
Any further questions about protools I'm ready to answer :) |

You can expand to 48 mono traks now at a cost. Curious to know what the midi is like in PT7. I know it has been less than great in the past. Also that converter you speak of, does it cause latency or anything. Is it sort of like Rosetta? |

Midi is almost the same, Actualy I wouldn't advise any producer whose production is mainly based on midi to use protools, it's an audio software, excellent for recording, and excellent for sequencing audio files, but for the midi...I wouldn't suggest it...
And about the converter no...it doesn't cause any latency, actualy what it does is that it converts your VST folder to RTAS folder, that's it :) |
