The Academic version is for schools, students and such. I'm not sure, but on some types of software, you are only eligble to buy an academic version if you are a school, students alone can't buy them, but as I said, I'm not sure, check with Steinbergs policy for academic software..
There is no difference in Cubase itself, you can call it "student-price"..

academic discounts rule. cubase sx for $399? yes. logic pro for $599? yes. if you qualify, definitely take advantage of it and buy as much stuff as you can. there shouldn't be "academic editions" of the software, so it should all be the same for upgrades and stuff. i felt like i just robbed a bank when i bought Live and Cubase for $700. wheeeeeeee |

Wow, I wonder what you'd feel like if you had pirated it. |

Cubase can be sold to students, you just have to send an academic proof to your shop.
I've bought it for 375 :)
@ mystical, I think it's a much better feeling having bought it for that price and being the "owner" of a program.
Same thing with downloading a zillion pirated mp3's or owning some kickass cd's. |
