Hello,
I was asked by a czech magazine to write a kind of overview of available soft synths...from free ones to the big names in the paid area...
I¨m quite ok with choosing some of the paid ones...but actually...I'm not too sure about which of freeware ones to include. :(
any help?
What I have now:
- Muon Tau 2 (Demo)
- LoveKiller
- Arpy
- Phadiz
- String Synth
- Grainz 0.4
- rgc:audio Triangle
- KarmaFX
- Synth1
- Triangle II
- Tweakbench Pressure
- Crystal
EDIT: The topic title was kinda strange...hope it's fixed now...I think i wanted to write something else and ended up with a typo lol |

Synth1 hasn't been discontinued, latest version is from 05/2006.
Still going strong :).
Check out Crystal. People have been raving about it.
Will see if I can come up with some more.

hi booster,
you might want to check out www.vstcentral.com and search for "free vst" or "free vst synth" (for more specific search) ... there is a heck alot! ;)

KarmaFX (I need to reinstall this one)
Synth1
Triangle II
Tweakbench Pressure
Personally, I'd take SuperwaveP8 off that list. It can make some nifty sounds, but not with the fatness and power of the above freewares. Furthermore, it fails miserably in its intended purpose, emulating the JP8000. Those saw waves sound like . |

i agree with that, it sound to much a bright-like, and dont have almost none depth in it.. but, maybe its just me who cant find my way through the gui (its a bit messy, i think..)
but i have also heard some really cool sounds with it, just dont can get out the speakers myself =) |

I better like KVRAudio...anyway...having a big list is not that usefull...since then it's still on you to choose the best, that's why I asked! I don't have much experience with freeware as I use my bought plugins (which are commercial)...anyone could google a bunch of freeware VSTs and review them...that's just not what I want.

thanks to everyone for your suggestions! Keep 'em comming
Superwave is taken off the list. Suggestions added, thanks to everyone :) |

Synth 1 easily beats them all, as long as you don't play the highest notes.
I'm making a free preset pack, to be posted soon on this forum.
A little piece of advice, I'd recommend you to delete all the vst's you don't like after you tried them cause some of these free plugins make your system unstable. |
