Need HELP with arrangements...

I've been producing tracks for a few years now as a hobby and I always get about 10-20% into a track and either quit or decide it's not good enough and re-write to 20% and quit again. Because of this I've haven't really "finished" too many tracks. Could someone help me out with ideas so I can get past this obstacle of my mind and continue to write and finish a track?

Any advice, criticism, ANYTHING would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I looped the track for a minute or so to get the feel. Here's a link to the track: http://www.neoscopetechnology.com/d...0606-Trance.mp3 Be sure to right click > save as.

the track has no movement whatsoever and the kick is pretty dull
and the bass is too over powering
id start this one over the best thing to do is count every 8 or 16 and bring something else in to build energy and drive.

If you listen to the first minute of the song all of the percussion and instruments are brought in with intervals of 8 bars. Also, your comment on the kick is a matter of taste. I was looking more for ideas on arrangement although "constructive criticism" would be great as well. I'm going to try to bring down the levels on the bass. Maybe it sounds different in your monitors then mine. I'll check it out with headphones.

Take a cloooose listen to a good track. Try to analyze every part of it and try to really find all the different sound in there. Try to imagine what the producer had in mind when he did it.

I you just wanna practise, copy the whole arrangement, with percs, fx, etc etc.

Put the track ,that you think sound good and you like the arrangement, in a channel on your sequencer and have it as a goal. In this way you can train your ears, feel whats missing in what part of the freq. range...etc etc...

I think this is a great way to learn and practise if you dont have any experience.

Kick should pump alittle more. Also lots of stuff needs EQ.

Well, the fact that once things get going, nothing happens notwithstanding, I can't think of anything wrong. I'd suggest going for a pluck lead in there. Add in a nice moving pad and maybe a drum loop, and that's all the elements you need. For arrangement, you can start out with the standard build break build chorus outro arrangement to start with. What's most important is finishing the first song. Once you finish one song, every other afterwards will be that much easier to finish. Then you can begin to listen and think about new ways of developing a song.
