Ibiza : Question
View this Thread in Original format

Hey everyone. I'm leaving for Ibiza tomorrow and it's my first time. I know it's a bit too late but i have a question for those who have been there before. Do you know any good diving center you can recommend? I have found a few but i would prefer to have somebody's else opinion too. Especially i'm interested in 3-4 days "live-abroad" type of tours. Thanks.

your best bet id say is over in san antonio bay,all around the bay area they have all that sort of stuff!

oh and have fun :)

Its not too late. You have closing parties to go to!!

yeah if you walk around the san antonio bay there are alot of places right by the water, there are also brochures at the airport and at all the hotels so u'll find plenty

Oh no, i'm skipping parties, I'm going only to dive and then hit some museums in Madrid. I'm in a process of getting my advance diving certificate and i need to complete two particular dives. But thanks. I'll keep my eyes open when we go to San Antonio.

Only you would have the money or connections to go to Ibiza and NOT PARTY lol. So what DJ's will you be hanging out with???:p

What Djs am i going to hang out with? Hmmm only with my BF so far. I found a new passion - diving and I feel terrible for going to Ibiza while i could spend another 10 days diving on The Great Barrier Reef. But it was booked quite awhile ago and i couldn't reschedule anything. So, i will try to enjoy and do some good wreck dives.

You have to "book" something to dive? , the ocean is huge! Why can't you just go diving where you want?!
Sveta
1)You can't just go and dive. It's so much nicer to get a boat trip ( 5-6 hours from the shore) and dive from a boat.
2) i still haven't gotten some equipment - a tank and a BCD, so i need to rent them.
3) Only specialized Diving schools and centers are allowed to refill your tank with air, you can't do it by yourself.
4) Local centers usually know the best locations to dive and they can advise you about the weather, diving conditions, water temperature and visibility under water. You can't possibly know all that unless you dive there all the time.
5) I don't have a buddy because my BF doesn't dive, so i can find a mate to dive (by PADI rules you can't dive alone)

I doubt there are any of them around Balearic Islands. I have seen plenty in the GBR and they are absolutely harmless. Something extraordinary has to happen to make them use their stings. I was diving in the same area of the Reef just a week before that terrible accedent happened to Steve Irwin and i am really sorry, but during my 10 days there i stopped paying any attention to barbs as they are just everywhere. Sharks were more fun, but i didn't get to see them untill the very last day on the Reef and then, i was chasing them trying to get a better picture. Believe me, they are more fascinating than Djs, that's why i go diving, not partying.
