But hang on, PvDs in the top ten, along with the likes of Tiesto, AvB, Sasha, Diggers etc, and Lawrence is outside, with the likes of Benassi as you rightly pointed out. The only DJ in that top ten I'd frown upon is ATB - WTF?!?!?! :conf:
that said, so far as the peoples choice is concerned PvD is currently 'it' and Lawrence takes second place. I'm only stating a fact. PvD headlines a lot of global dance events, more than Lawrence I'd be prepared to bet. This means the majority of the clubbing world, not just DJ mags voters, believe PvD is far hotter property than Lawrence, at least right now.
It's not just us on TA that have views, we're just a drop in the vast ocean when you consider the global clubbing community outside of these forums...............

the thing is.. i couldnt care less what other people think. PvD is just as boring as Ferry and no matter what number they get after some poll will never change the fact that they get votes purely cause theyre well known, not cause they deliver something exciting. Drop the names off of their sets and whatnot and youd see way less people actually ending up voting and cheering for them. |

Thats fair enough, but I don't agree, at least not entirely.
Something about PvDs live sets are different for me. I find that his ability to read a crowd is spot on, somehow he see's something out there and makes a connection with the clubbers.
So listen to a recorded set and you're bound not to get it. Anyone can mix a buch of tracks together and make em sound good, but to tune in to the crowd and play what they need, well thats what makes a top grade DJ.
Thats why he's got a huge following, because of the vast crowds he's reached out and touched.
We have to agree that music is subjective. Thats a fact.
PvD boring? Thats an opinion.
Do a poll on TA or a poll anywhere alse in the world and PvD will come out over Lawrence. Thats a fact!

but ive always found PvD to be boring cause he doesnt seem to even notice the crowd. Whoring his boring stuff and leaves, hes a master at ruin the atmosphere with odd choices and whatnot.. Im still convinced he only tops the charts due to his name and his past, not who he is today (as in play).
note: im no lawrence zealot, im just of the opinion he's a better and more entertaining dj than PvD, thats all. |

totally agree. I'm pretty sure alot of ppl vote on him because of his name. Listening to some of his sets makes me wonder what the heck is so special about this? It's neither exciting or jaw dropping. |
