one night...late at night...while you're getting head from a fine chick..
she'll be gettin' pounded doggystyle by a nearby college guy...

I havent been in one, I cant imagine they'd be easy, but heres what I read and will live by "If you like each other, then make it work, circumstances be damned". |

If the relationship starts off by already being long distance from day one I would say the probabilities of it being doomed are extremely high.
As the cohabition, the everyday feeling of love with near proximity to the other and relative ease of building the relationship are all not there when you start off long distance it makes it near impossible or it takes some form of supernatural efforts for it to work.
If the relationship is existent and the two must part there is already a basis to the link between the two people which facilities the upkeep of the relationship even if such a situation isn't particurlaly easier ( perhaps actually harder ) from an emotional point of view.
C0r version:
Start off the relationship being long distance = no no
Go from a regular relationship to it becoming long distance = bigger probability of working. |

You can always pretend that nothing happened while you were separated, but you will never know for sure.
How many people would turn down an opportunity to cheat on their partner if there was absolutely no way of getting caught? |

if you're unsure about it, it's probably not a good idea.
in my experience, long distance relationships only work if you're both extremely committed to each other and to making the relationship work. you need to establish very strong bonds when it comes to trust, communication, etc...
they're a hell of a lot harder if you live very far apart and can only see each other once a month or less. i'm in a long distance relationship but we're only 150 miles apart so we get to see each other every single weekend, and even sometimes on days during the week as well. when you're dealing with further distances though, most young people don't have the dedication to staying true to someone they only see once a month or less, especially if they're away at college and making other friends and partying.
the fact that you even mention your ex tells me your heart isn't in it with the new girl 100%. she honestly shouldn't even matter one bit when it comes to deciding how you're going to deal with your current situation.
i wish you luck, regardless of what you decide... it'll be hard to say goodbye but maybe the best thing you can do for each other is just to end things for now and try to stay as friends for a while. |

wtf.
that's .
my bf and i are 3 hours away by plane. Only been dating since April but we have seen each other a total of 4 times :(
i wish we were atleast in the same state. it sucks but it's good cuz i'm not the best gf out there so gf duties are limited to once a month or once every other month :D |

it wont work if you only see each other 1 a month.
From experience, a relationship involving distance works only as much as those involved do to keep it good.
