I'm going to commit social suicide here and go on the record by saying I really dig this tune. I agree that it's fairly repetitve, but that's nothing that mixing out of the track early can fix somewhat. But regardless, even if it isn't the freshest sound, it's still damn catchy.

Its funny to see all the hype on this track the last few months.
Im from Detroit. The original sample of this is from a whitelabel/unreleased record by a local producer. Its been bootleged a good handful of times and such and you hear it all over Detroit.
Every year at the DEMF you will hear it a good 10 times.
When i first heard this version at some afterhours in Edmonton i was impressed that a "bootleg" version of the track got all the way out there, then i found out it was a commercial release on a large label and was quite amused.
Just alittle history on the track from a Detroiters perspective ;)
Personally, being from the Detroit and hearing one of the many versions over the years, i honestly do like it. Like 5am in a back room crap hole afterhours in burned down Downtown with like 100 people just jammin it can grab ya. I quess you need to have that connection to the city though.
The new remix that is in discussion now isnt that bad. Its a bit cheeky, but thats what it supposed to be. I dont think it supposed to be a revolutionary track by any means, its supposed to be a fun party record. Something you drop in a nasty late night set or something.
Just some thoughts
