the sound on my laptop STOPPED WORKING

so i got this stupid new dell inspiron 710m a few months ago, it was the best price i could find and i really dont mind it, until yesterday.
The sound just stopped working. its not muted, i tried winamp, itunes, DVD's, headphones etc. their tech support sucks too.
so, now they want to replace my motherboard but that will require me to send it to them for 2 weeks. i need it for work and school so i guess ill go without sound for the next 3 months until i graduate.
anyone else ever have this happen or perhaps a remedy ? im pretty close to backing up all my data, putting the laptop into a woodchipper, and then mailing them a box of what used to be a laptop to take advantage of my warranty. |

i didnt get it at best buy, got it online and they said i cant have best buy fix it.

| sometimes things can happen without knowledge, i don't know why, but it can. would be worth checking lots of things before sending it off, depending how much you know about the bits |

Control pannel>sounds speech
look there make sure everything is on. Also make sure you dont have it muted.
