Will MSN still run properly if I uninstall IE? I know that Microsoft recommends having IE before you install MSN, so I'm wondering if it really is imperative that I have it? I don't even use IE, I use Firefox.

So um, can I uninstall it?

Uninstalling IE will render a system fault on your operating system. That will cause it to lock and then you would be ed.
kadomony
dunno, but be sure to use a pump while you're uninstalling it

You're silly, it's near impossible to get rid of IE! Microsoft doesn't wan you to!

And I would keep IE, due to some sites not being compatible with firefox still.

I was actually joking about the OS crashing.

But trying to get rid of IE is hard to do.

to uninstall things like IE and other hidden installs thru add remove programs, do this:

find sysoc.inf (you might have to enable "show hidden files" and "show hidden/protected system folders" in explorer) and open it in notepad
replace all ",hide" with "," (both with out quotes) which is easiest to do with the replace all command under edit
then in add/remove programs under add/remove windows compnents and whole new list of things to uninstall and add are now listed (such as internet explorer)

Dont do it, its a trappp!

easiest way, set firefox or whatever you use as default browser but only use IE if necessary :) It's just something that has to be there, due to microsofts monopoly on what can/can't be on a comp & how they work it all in.
jdat
There are ways of fully removing it but I wouldn't do it despite the fact I use firefox 99% of the time.

I couldn't find anything on the subject of counter indications of iexplorer removal which could influence on msn messenger being functional or not.

dont uninstall it, just dont use it, get firefox or opera or any other browser and set it to default, sooner or later you will need IE for some site.
