Ok so I have been working off a numark bare bones mixer for the past year, finally upgraded to a djm 800
now i hear diff djs using diff effects live and i am wondering how they are done.
one is fwoooooooosssshhhhhhhhhhhhhh sound that gets louder and louder
so when the song is building up before it kicks in basically add that fwooooossssshhhh effect. Is that possible with the effects?
also are djs using delay or flanger or reverb or what when the song is building up and the dj switches the beat from like bum bum bum bum to buhduhduhduhduhduhduhduhduhduhduhdduhdudh then Lays it in on the beat when it comes in and carrys on with the song
i know these descriptions are retarded, i don't know how else to explain them. can anyone help me use effects in a non-retarded fashion? |

| i couldnt help but laugh at your post (not in a making fun sort of way just cheery laugh). the fwoosh effect is probably a filter sweep (im not too familiar with pio mixers so probably a bandpass filter if you have one). the other one is a "roll" or maybe "Reverse roll" if you have one. hope that helped |

The fwooooooooooooooooooosh is most likely a filter sweep, using a lo-pass with high resonance, probably done on an Allen & Heath mixer.
I'm pretty sure you could pull off the buildup with the DJM, by using Echo and switching the "beat" buttons progressively from 4 to 1. It seems to be most commonly done with an EFX-500 or EFX-1000.
Does Junkie XL actually do DJ sets? I thought he just did live PAs. |
