Hey does anybody have both of these sample CDs? I have Clubsounds volume 1, and I want to get a new sample CD. I suppose i'm more into trance production, but a lot of progressive trance uses some of the sounds in the house essentials CD. Which one should I get? I've listened to both demo songs and I'm undecided.

Since you know what you'd be getting, you just need to make up your mind. I'm sure both are great.

VEC2

depends on what kind of sounds you want?

If you've already got VEC1, I'd say VEH alongside it would provide you with a wider sonic palette then VEC2 alongside it.

Sorry for the hijack but it is kind of on topic.
Vengeance Minimal House SampleCD, lookin good.

I think VEC2 is really hardstyle sounding. There isn't enough variety of sounds to really choose from. I'd go with the Vengeance House cd out of those two. There's better sample cds out there though.

The problem I found with the Vengeance House CD (what I heard of it at least) is that it tends to be a lot of prefab, cookie-cutter sounds and riffs, which is fine if that's what you want; it just won't really help if you're trying to create original music.

VEC on the other hand is by and large one-shots and a very diversive cross-section of it. I'm not sure if VEC2 is really much different though.

Frankly I just don't think that Vengeance is so great for producing unique sounds - they tend to just copy the sounds of popular producers. They're good sounds, don't get me wrong, just not really "inspiring". The VEC was (and still is), truly, essential for me with its percussion sounds. Other Vengeance CDs and soundsets haven't really grabbed me.

If you already have VEC and just want "a new sample CD", you should check out some of the many other sound designers like Spectrasonics, or East West or Zero G (if you can get ahold of their older CDs, their new ones suck because they force you to use Intakt), or even Prosamples. Those aren't the only ones, there are dozens of others as well, those are just at the top of my list. Of course you need to know how to use a sampler to get the most out of those.

i was gonna say that the thomas penton gives u the best sounding percussion samples around ( the effects ull add as necesary, seems stupid to me to have samples or loops with fx, lazy MTF!!!!)
but then i said that too much in the last threads that all people are gonna sound the same. so i stop!
Dont get the Thomas Penton CD , unless u actually wanna work the samples around!
Emperor
i have both. the essential house is better. the other is kinda outdated...the essential house is good for lots of music like electro to house to trance or whatever...the other isnt..
