If you have read any of my current posts you can see i am currently trying to get a handle on this effects thing
Would anyone care to explain what a efx 1000 enables me to do that i cant do on a djm 800? |

I feel your pain m8 as I've been there! :D Everything I know I've taught myself without anyone to ask & it's a long lonely road (poor me! :stongue: ). FX can be overwhelming at first & you'll find very little to help you.
Its honestly best just to mess about & experiment. With FX it's all about the timing in the track, the timing of the effect itself (ie 16/1, 8/1, 1/1, 1/2 etc etc etc) & effecting the right parameters (ie any combination of low, mid & hi's). Altering any of this even slightly can dramatically change how the effect sounds.
What genre do you play? The house jocks I guess can utilise more effects whereas with trance you need to be very subtle when using them.
To answer your question (kinda) yes you can do different things on the DJM800 to the EFX1000 & vice versa.
I camcordered my last mixset with the idea of uploading it to YouTube for people in the same position I was with no one to ask, to help show how to use things like FX etc. Still not sure whether to upload it, I'm no expert DJ or anything & will probably get slaughtered over how I do things :D. Feck it, I might try & up it later on.
If you seach YouTube there's some decent DJM800 vids (a Spanish one is very good).
I use a DJM909 & I've never used a DJM800 but if you're really stuck with FX feel free to ask & if I can help I will m8. In the meantime, experiment & enjoy. It'll start to click into place eventually :) |

Jarvmeister - had a few messages from people (inc Scolomon) asking about posting my vid on YouTube. Problem is the 10 minute maximum film length :whip: I've started splitting it but I reckon it'll look a bit split into 7 or 8 segments.
You can get director status on YouTube (no limit on the length of the vids) but not sure how long it takes to get approved & it looks like it's for professional film makers etc. I'm just a numpty who wants to show a few basics to people with no one to ask, coz I know it feels in them shoes :D
If you have any ideas or dealings with the YouTube director status please let me know & in the meantime I'll keep ya posted if I get it upped :p
PS Wasn't sure what anyone would make of it - I suppose it'll either be really interesting to watch ...or coma inducingly tedious :stongue: :tongue2 :stongue: |
