tips on putting out a good promo mix??

Very soon I'll be working on my first promo mix to send out mainly to internet station managers, and anyone who will listen in general. Looking for advice on how best to approach this... how long (1 hour? 1 CD?), should I try to focus on one particular sound or diversify (because I listen to almost all forms of trance and would ideally like to show off everything). Thanks!

I like it here- But I didn't move it here.

record several mixes, try different things in all mixes, listen to them, let other people listen to them and pick the best one

It's always been here in DJ Booth hehe :)

You guys have a recommendation for mix length? I'm thinking 60 min is best so that if a radio DJ wanted to use it as a guestmix it would be pretty seemless?

Though, that's not enough time to explore every subgenre I want :confused:

60 mins is good. I like to cover a huge spectrum in that time.

Jump maybe 10bpm from start to finish-

The one I just put together for example-

Minimal->techhouse->Electrohaus->Acid->harder tech->harder acid->techno

Make sure the mix is tracked out and you have a nice looking label.

but trance its kinda hard, i mean u can probably get some breaks and stuff in there but its all about how u mix it

just dont play like 6 minutes of each track or else they will lose interest, id say keep it fast and tight

He is asking a question about how to put together a mix/promo mix. He isn't promoting himself persay. All promotion goes in the promotion section, all related questions go in here.

Chances are much greater he will get the responses he's looking for if he posts in this section.

ofcourse you have to show YOUR style in your mix, what they will here so they will get a good picture, but you dont really need to put in everything
just as long as you feel comftable with the mix, the people do and its not boring in any way
