Are internet stores a good or bad thing? (Future stores, not the ones we have now)

20 years from now (at most), we should be able to securely order anything online, using biometrics and have it arrive at our homes in less than an hour.
This eliminates the need for an actual store, because I predict we'll be able to browse dynamic, virtual warehouses in real-time and preview the products in high definition. (You're kidding yourself if you think that we won't reach this level of technology by then.)
Manufacturers will be able to sell their products directly to the consumer, and will not need stores to sell products for them. New products are going to cheaper now, because there won't be any retailers marking prices up. But then again, things would be scattered all over the place. Maybe some web company will create a virtual store and list all the products for a fee.
Imagine how easy it would be to set up your OWN store online, and sell things. People won't be as reluctant as they are now, because: It's faster, more secure, and they will be able to see the quality of the product beforehand. So we'll all benefit from this when it comes, not just manufacturers.
What do you think about this up and coming way of life? How do you think it will play out? (I'm aware many jobs will be lost, that's obvious) |

I don't we'll see this in 20 years. It'll take a little longer to complete eliminate stores. The technology may be there, but unless I don't think people will accept the switch that quickly.
edit Also, by then not only will we be able to view items in full high def glory, but I'm pretty sure 3D display as well as haptic feedback will be incorporated into it as well. I think once people are given the possibility of touching the item they wanna buy, virtually, that's when stores will start to slowly disappear. |

| It would be complicated with clothes, since in my opinion it's better to see clothing with your own eyes and try it out before you buy. Anything else could work. |
