Where do connections to Detroit, Chicago, New York, Berlin and Paris all emerge? In the little town of Karlsruhe in very western Germany all these cities influences join forces in the studio of Frank Wiedemann and Kristian Beyer, together forming the duo Âme (speak: Ahm, = French for soul). Their soulful mission to explore far beyond the borders of house music has captured the attention all major peeps involved in present club music. Delivering constant quality with 12's that are rocking house, techno and broken beat floors alike.
Âme have recently had massive international success with their track 'Rej', played by everyone from Richie Hawtin to Sven Vath to Steve Lawler. The track is already regarded as a modern day classic and refuses to budge from record boxes of the world's top DJ's. It has recently been signed to UK house label Defected for re-release and is recognised as the track of this years Ibiza summer season.
Âme have had a string of releases including their self titled album on Sonar Kollektiv, the Berlin label and network founded by Jazzanova and consisting of producers, musicans, DJs, graphic artists, and promoters. They released 'Rej' on another German label Innvervisions and completed another huge Ibiza track, a special rework of 'Rodaamal - Insomnia' on Ben Watt's Buzzin Fly imprint earlier this year. This alongside high quality remixes of Akabu - 'Future Bound' and a collabration with Dixon, Henrik Schwarz and Derrick Carter -'Where We At' amongst other releases has made Âme one of the hottest acts of 2006.
They are now one of the most in demand producers and DJ's in the world, having recently completed a debut Radio One Essential Mix, showcasing their accessible unique blend of deep, soulful, tech and minimal house. The defining sound of 2006.
Put simply, Âme are arguably the most influential and exciting prodcution/DJ team of 2006. They have been instrumental in combining the current minimal sound with melody and soul. Do not miss this, a rare UK appearance and their North East debut at Habit.
