in the 100 USD range, for production only..
i heard alot of good things about the HD280
i've been using gemini's djx-1 so anything would be an upgrade
is it true that opened or semi-opened are better sounding than closed?
pls, suggest only if you used them and you know how things work...i don't need cans that are super-bassy or spacey sounding, just want to hear the clean sound as it is, same level for all frequences
oh...and sennheisers only cuz are the only ones i can try out before buying, the other good ones (akg, beyerdinamic) should be order online so i can't hear them before buying
thank you |

The HD280 is decent, but IMO there are much better options. I'd recommend the AKG K81DJ for closed cans, it's an incredible value (priced between $55-$70). If open/closed is not an issue, I'd say go for the Sennheiser HD555
Browse around http://www.headphonereviews.org and read up on some threads at http://www.head-fi.com and see if anything strikes your interest :) |

| I listened to almost all the pro headphones out there before making a choice & ended up buying the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro..Really happy with these headphones, excellent frequency response & plus they had a better low end then all the one's i listened to, including AKG's, sennhiesers etc.. |

HD280 is okay, but there are better ones in that price range from other manufacturers like AKG (K81 is not bad, K240D/DF is better if you can squeeze a little more cash).
When you get up to the HD600 or higher, Senn's quality can't be beat. Those are a lot more expensive though - in the lower price range I'd say don't limit your options to Senn.
Mind you, these are all for production... are you looking for DJ headphones? |
