Sean was a bit of a let down (sorry)

Well seeing as you started it, I guess I will write a review.....
I was a lil skeptical going into this, but damn I'm I happy I went out. My whore you were right, what can I say you and Carey have some great taste in music. From now on any DJ that is Button and Britt approved I will go out to see :D
Rach I wouldn't say that Sean was a let down, but what I will say is, he was definitely trying out something new for the crowd. I liked it. But was feeling very off when I walked in there. I still felt like I was on the boat and was rocking back and forth all night. I was feeling 'sea' sick at the club for most of the night and I almost fell over so many times while dancing cause I was off balance. lol. Must have looked pretty funny.
Hector's sound is kinda undescribable, well for me at least. It had a lil bit of everything, even trance. :eek: He had the crowd going nuts though. I couldn't stop dancing, even with my bummed knee. It was good to see my bro going nuts in the middle of the dance floor near the end of the night too. Its been awhile Carey :)
I left around 7:30 and the place was still going off.
Good to see everyone out and having fun.
Oh yeah and NICOLA - you owe me big time girl. I came out after all that nagging on the boat, and you didn't even show up :whip: Your loss though, cause the tunes were off the hook. Hope you slept well.... |

This was my first time at Sonic since BOA and I was blown away. Crisp sound system; awesome beats by Sean and Hector Romero spectacular; flawless set, although I was forced to leave at 6:00am, I really wanted to stay! I was so impressed with the dance floor as well! My feet, in four inch heels were very happy!
Awesome place, the vibe was insane! It was really nice seeing Floorwhore and Steve, next time I will party harder with you two! See you guys soon!

WHERE WAS EVERYBODY? You missed an amazing night!
I had not seen Hector since Boa, Spring 2005...he put opn a great show then, and blew me away on Saturday night!
Sean was so good too...I thought he did a great job warming up the crowd without stealing the thunder from the headliner. I will NEVER understand why this guy does not have a stronger local following...we see it for much lesser talent...come on Toronto...a star is born!
Hector was sooo dirty...lots of variety...he mixed it up good...we danced until 845...when the lights came on...Hector yelled from the booth about how much fun he had had playing at Sonic, and how lucky Toronto was to have a quality club like Sonic.
Rachel...you were going to stay 2 hours...ya, you "melted" but it was in a good cause.
I can't wait to see Sean headline this coming weekend..and I told Hector we better not have to wait 18 months to see him again! |

Well even though I am still upset with you, you really shouldn't hate yourself, hehehe, I am sure Hector will be back.

Fun, hard, evil. Sean was different then usual. Love a DJ that can be flexible. It wasn't my favorite set from Sean, but quite enjoyable.
Hector, wow, Hector, thank you, hard and dirty. Loved it.
Great night all in all, but man, after that boat ride I just could not stop rocking. The floor in Sonic was rocking in more ways then one. I didn't think someone could get sea sick while on land. I didn't actually get sick, but was very close several times. Nice time at Omar's, Thanks Omar and Jeff. |

Ok.. The last 2 times i attended SONIC, were my faves so far...
Victor Calderone 3 weeks ago and now Sean Miller/Hector Romero.
I really liked that Sean changed his set... He never seems to disappoint me...
I have been waiting such a long time to hear HECTOR ROMERO. After a 6 hour boat cruise and dancing all day long, i didnt think i would have the energy to dance my feet off all night long...
We arrived at 130 and i was on the dancefloor most of the night, left around 830.
Hector was amazing... i didnt want to stop dancing... I couldnt stop dancing... Loved his set, his energy is incredible... You could see how much fun he was having playing for the crowd.
I also loved the fact that lights were low for most of his set... didnt even need my sunglasses... :)
Such an incredible time! Tara so happy you made it out... I knew you would love Hector... i told you that on the boat... :) |

boat cruise all day, then somehow ended up spinning 7 hours at umars before going to sonic. lol. it was more like the titanic, as i entered the main room. i seriously have never been so unbalanced in my life. several times a great song would come on, i would attempt to dance - and i either fell slightly to one side, or stepped on a hot girls toes. damn you lady yankee.
only caught the last hour of sean's set, and i wasn't overly impressed. i guess i'm just used to him turning it up a notch for the last segment of his sets, and this time he just kind of stuck to the 'warmup' game plan and played safe tunes. regardless, i'd rather hear an average set from sean, than a great one from any other local.
hector came on, and instantly picked up the energy of the club. the lights were dim, and it set the mood perfectly for the dirty beats he slayed us with. finally heard lawler's remix of 'sexyback', place went off when he dropped that around 6am. he definately knows how to work a crowd, and is one of the nicest personalities i have met during my time at the club.
cant wait for his return which i hope is sooner than later |

After seeing Hector a few weeks ago at Stereo, I knew Sonic would be in a for a treat. We were already planning a trip to Toronto this past weekend. A few days ago, I check the sonic website and low and behold it is hector again. Can't say I was disappointed.
Nice to meet you rachel and now I can put another face to someone on tranceaddict.
Afterwards went to Umar's where Jeff played some jazzy tunes. Then off to the Zone for the morning. Things were a bit disappointing and slow. Left early afternoon to get some rest and back to the Zone for addy and Dekoze at night. And holy f*ck were things off their rocker at the Zone. Hooting, hollering, banging tables and bars, people going ape, dancing like nobody's business. The best vibe ever so far at the Zone.
Addy would get a track starting, then completely cut the music, and then bring it back again very quickly. I had mixed feelings about this at first at the unexpected silence lost me the first few times, but when he brings the music back real fast increasing the volume in quick steps, it got the crowd all the more rowled up.
Dekoze then played the funkiest dirtiest I ever heard him play. I hope this man is being payed well. |
