Ok ive just upgraded to cubase sx 3

in cubase sx i always set my vst's and audio to quadro out as my vst connection.

the problem is when i go to audio mixdown there is a box that says outputs then it lists all my vsts and audio used. it also has the quadro out which i am using for my channels. although when i select this it says only the first 2 channels will be exported.

how do i mix it down then? its driving me mad!

Quadro is 4 channel sound - basically the same as 4 speaker surround sound. If you're writing a stereo track, there isn't a lot of point in using it - you might as well just use stereo for everything.

I'm pretty certain there are ways of mixing quadro channels down to stereo channels - your best bet could well be by making your output channel stereo and creating a quadro group channel, then routing the different quadro channels into either side (left/right) of the output channel.

The reason you can't mix it down straight is that the output wave file can only have 2 channels (wave file format does support more than 2 channels, but there are very very few programs that can play wave files with more than 2 channels properly)

that worked. strange how it worked for me in sx.

so its set to stereo how do you position your sounds from front to rear etc without bouncing everything to audio?
