i had a look at the red sound soundbite xl and it looks like a damn interesting tool. i'd love to give it a try though. i wonder how you'd go about looping an intro with it and then continuing from the looped section to the actual track.
that connection diagram on red sound's site is a bit confusing too, with the mixer with 3 crossfaders too! :p

the way you set it up is have the soundbite in coming from your headphone out, you sample from your cue basically and run the out to an extra channel in your mixer...so its not hard at all continuing on in the track you just cue up your original track while the loop is routed to the master channel and mix as you please. but im also curious did they ever get it???

also if i can find the link i'll put up the video for the cycloops its mad cool, just cant remember where i found it...

Once you get the loop function of the CDJ down, it's easy to make a non-seamless loop seem seamless to the listener. It just requires hitting the jog wheel at the precise time, among other things. I just wish that Pioneer would stop basing the loop off of time in the track, and instead base it off of the actual track itself (if that makes any sense).

I do, however, want a Cycloops so I can essentially use it as a third deck. ie, keeping a piece of the outgoing track layered over the incoming track, as I beatmatch and bring in the next track, or layering a vocal sample, etc.

I just need to find a way to get the money with all of the other crap I have to pay for. :sadgreen:

We got it, and while it is a little cumbersome to have to be contantly mixing in and out of the loop (as opposed to ableton where I can set the track to end or start on a loop and then go right out of the loop into the rest/end of the track) but its fun to use, and it is indeed like a third deck. The bpm engine is slow though, and while most of the time it does an okay job, I prefer turning it off when mixing as I found I keep better time than it does. Once you get the hang of it, its alot of fun, but its going to take me awhile to learn how to work it in seamlessly.

so has anyone else bought some of these? i'm still kinda interested in one as every cdj seems to have crap looping. two things that put me off from buying one are the headphone out system and the thing that it seems somewhat difficult to use. i wonder if you can just set it up using the effects loop on your mixer. my mixer's headphone out isn't the best possible quality, so i'd much rather use the effects send/return for the soundbite xl.

So basically what I'm hearing here is that people want quantization for the loops in the next cdj1000?

I have the older PVDJ Grabber and love it, don't leave home without it (for a gig that is). So much fun stuff you can do with it.

Redsound just came out with an even newer version, the Soundbite Pro. Has 1GB internal flash memeory to store all your loops and samples. And has USB connection and software to edit stuff. Looks like I might have to update...

i built my own quantized looper/sampler in pure data which i run back into another line on my mixer if anyone wants to check that out

i got my soundbite xl a couple of days ago and it's driving me ing nuts!
when i use the headphone out to it the signal is so silent that when i route it back to my mixer i can't get it to peak at 0 dB even if i crank the gain to its highest. i'll go deaf if i always have to crank my headphones way the up when i need to record a loop with the soundbite. also i can't use the phono input either as then the sound coming from the soundbite is way too loud and distorted.
i also thought about using the fx loop on my mixer to send sound to it, but it appears that the fx loop on my mixer only sends sound from the channels that are selected to send sound if the faders are up. :wtf:
anyone got any suggestions?
a new mixer perhaps? i've been kinda looking at the xone:92 rotary but i have no idea if i'd get the soundbite to work like i want with the xone's aux sends.

What mixer do you have now? The headphone out method sucks. It's much better with the Aux outs on the Xone 92, works 100x better. Although the FX Send method should work fine also, that's the way I use it on my mixer. I don't put it back on the return though, I go into a separate channel.

i have a vestax pcv-175 rotary. otherwise i love it but the fx loop seems pretty stupid as it sends only the channels of which faders are up.
also it doesn't have vu meters for every channel, only for the master. and it looks ugly as too.
but the fx sends on the xone do send the signal even if the fader for the selected channel is not up? if so, i'm going to seriously have to consider spending ing 1500€ on a new mixer! :nervous: :nervous: :nervous:
